getzum
It was brought to my attention by a few drivers that the Legacy group needs a leader to help lead the class following the resignation of Mr. Huff and Mr. Holt. I've said it before that I wish things hadn't happened the way they did but both of them have their reasons as to why they stepped away. My name has been thrown around by a few drivers as someone they would trust to help guide the group. Now I did not ask to be put in this situation but I will take on that role for now since no one has stepped up to take the lead. It's not a permanent role because I believe if there is a full season next year that those who would like a role in running this series get that opportunity. Aaron Chadwick has offered his time as well to team up with myself for the time being. He has a passion for racing along with his daughter Camryn, a new driver who purchased Fogg's car at the end of last years season. Josh Berendsen and the Mize Guys have been extremely vocal as well by getting in touch and staying in touch with fellow drivers. Now the first order of business and what I believe is top priority is to get our 15 or more cars registered along with the fees turned in as soon as possible to secure a spot in the July 8th race. There has been a few concerns by some drivers/ car owners that could possibly hurt the car count. One is tech. Sure there should be tech but do we need to bring someone in and pay them for their services? Can we not find a volunteer who has some knowledge of race cars and is capable of reading the rules? Are we racing for points, are we racing for a championship? No, our goal at this time should be to show up, put on a good clean entertaining race to impress the fans and the track officials in hopes that we get a permanent spot if the track runs a full season next year. Another concern is what rules do we run under? Simple, we run the same rules as last season. Most everyone is familiar with them and those who aren't can find the rules on line. We shouldn't have to change any rules or even change the class name at this point. Why go through the trouble for one race maybe two when all we really need and want to do is race these cars. Who will be our race director? If the track requires supporting classes to provide their own race director then I think we can once again find a qualified volunteer for now. If we all look at the big picture then we shouldn't have a problem. If anyone else has concerns, ask yourself, is it really important for these two races? If you can't answer your own question then let your voice be heard so we can come to a reasonable resolution. Second order of business, where do we stand right now with our car count. So far I have received registration and fees fromAaron Chadwick Colt MizeRocky MizeJosh Berendsen Brad HardenJaida Simental Tyler BarclayAlmost half way there, but still a long ways to go. If you need the registration link, get in touch with me and I'll email it to you. Same with the link for paying fees. The tracks deadline is June 8th. If we get declined before the deadline then you "will" get your fees back. If you have a car and would like to run it but need a driver get in touch with me. There are experienced drivers out there that are willing and ready to race. If you need help with registration fees I'm sure we can pull together as a group to help as well. This is a great group of drivers, let's put any differences aside and race these cars. I'd like to finish this extremely long post by thanking the ones listed above who have already taken care of their part. Thanks for reading, Jason
Bharden
Good post Jason, and thank you for stepping up to the plate. You are absolutely correct, let's put aside concerns about tech, rule discussions, and other hampering concerns and let's just get 15+ together and go race! Figure out the rest later. Let's pull together!
JRfan
Even though these races are mostly about car count, we still need to have tech insp to keep the integrity of the series and keep everyone honest. If we choose to not do tech what's stopping anybody from cheating to win the purse money?
getzum
As I mentioned in the post, absolutely we need tech to be done. But as I also mentioned, do we really need to pay someone to do tech at this time. Can we not find somebody with in the group to volunteer their time to do tech? If it comes to the point where we can not find a volunteer then paying an individual would be the only option. If cheating to win the purse money is the problem then I think we can come to a solution that would equally pay all drivers the same.
Bharden
I like your approach Jason. I hope no one is holding back just because we are trying to find a solution for tech. If we don't move, we will all be sitting at home July 8th, Sept 23rd, and next season as well. No purse money or fun for anyone if we sit at home. Let's focus on what is in front of us for now.
