Bellm Set for Sedalia after Texas Double

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (April 14, 2017) – Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team continue Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition with this Saturday afternoon’s card atop Sedalia’s ½-mle Missouri State Fairgrounds clay oval.

After a Moberly rainout on March 26 and in idle weekend, Bellm and the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team was back in action last weekend with an ASCS National Tour double at Texas Motor Speedway.

It wasn’t the weekend that the 2015 series Rookie of the Year was hoping for, with motor woes slowing Friday’s effort and then a crash cutting short a solid Saturday night run.

“We hurt a motor Friday and didn’t find the problem soon enough to start the feature,” Bellm says.

Moving on to Saturday’s Texas Sprint Car Nationals finale, Bellm was up to speed aboard the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions mount.

“We were pretty fast on Saturday, the car was good,” Bellm said of the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care machine. “We went from sixth to fifth in the heat and then won our qualifier to get in the feature.”

Gridding the feature 13th, Bellm was on the move forward in the early going.

“We were passing for tenth, then we got a little help,” Bellm sums up.

It wasn’t the wanted kind of help, as the assist sent Bellm into the fence and a flip that brought an early end to his night.

“It was disappointing, we had at least a seventh or eighth place car,” Bellm says. “We have had good speed each time out, we’re just needing a little luck to go our way.”

He and the Schaeffer Oil/Prater Designs/The Engine Heater team will be looking for that change of fortune on Saturday at a place not too far from his Nixa, MO, home at Sedalia’s Missouri State Fairgrounds.

“We had a couple of good runs there last year with top-fives and blew up in the top five in a National race, so hopefully we can get a good draw and make a good day out of it,” Bellm concludes.

2017 Quick Stats: 4 races, 3 feature starts.
