DCRST picks Cotton @ CBS

Recommended Posts

(Paige, TX) The Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas finally started the 2017 racing season, if the debut was any indication this season will be one for the record books. In the first-ever trip to Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige 25 cars entered the gates and made the crowd wow as the series does around the state of Texas.

The 25 lap main event flew to green with Rodney Rodriguez (4) taking the early lead as the field went 4 and 5 wide around the super fast 3/8 mile oval. James Fitzgerald (6) took the lead before a front straightaway crash knocked out 4 cars. Fitzgerald and Dylan Budnik (25) paced the field to that point. Once the green flew Rusty Young (88) and Gary Buchanan (99) took hold of the field dodging spins and mishaps working through the field. Cars swapped positions lap after lap as the field raced to a late race caution.

When the green flew Young held off Buchanan to the stripe ahead of Fitzgerald, Budnik and Brandon Spreen (80). Kevin Hubbard (8), Butch Havelka (27), Dillon Coyne (12), Jerry Young (18) and David Bonner (49) rounded out the top 10.

Todd McLemore (44), R Young and Tyler Folkerts (42) picked up heat race wins earlier in the evening.

DCRST returns to action Saturday April 22nd at CBS for race 2 on the 2017 Wild Side Tour.
