NickHolt
What happened to affordable? A track has to survive in order for racing to continue. And if you look around at the various entertainment options in your area, $15 is not an unreasonable gate charge. Nick

geknight
I remember paying $10 at many tracks in 1990. So with the inflation rate since then, I really think most tracks are keeping prices very cheap. Especially since movie theaters are charging anywhere from $12 to $15 per person. College football and basketball games are $35 and up around the country. Concerts have gone through the roof. Even a value meal at McDonalds now costs $7. So at some point, there will have to be an increase in admission fees if tracks are going to keep up with insurance, taxes, wages, purse, fuel, etc. increases. Otherwise they will not be able to stay open.
arob
Well I guess if anybody wanted to they could give the track $20 instead of $10 or $15. The examples you give they all have much, much larger payrolls than most race tracks.
