Pleasanton, TX.,(March 21st, 2017) Once again the roar of race engines will be heard at I-37 Speedway, just south of town on. After being closed for several seasons, R&M Promotions has picked up the lease on the ¼ mile, semi-banked, dirt oval and will begin their season this coming weekend. After a successful open practice on Saturday the 18th, another Friday practice is slated for the six classes running at the facility. Saturday night will be the tracks first official race.

The regular weekly classes will be the Cash Bred Off Road Modifieds, Nogalitos Gear Limited Late Models, Swenson Racing Products Sport Modifieds, SABFI Transportation Street Stocks, All In Designs Pure Stocks and Brown Chevrolet Sport Compacts.

The track will run every other weekend with two special two-day shows scheduled, one mid-season, and the always well attended Big Buck Shootout at years end.

R&M Promotions(Ray Doyon III and Michael Keylich) both come from an extensive racing background. Doyon, a long time area circle track racer, has another generation of family coming up through the ranks. Keylich, on the other hand, comes to the table with drag racing credentials. This should make for an interesting combination. George Jones, who has run San Antonio Raceway and the Cycle Ranch in the past, will be in charge of managing day-to-day operations.

Since early this year track officials and volunteers have been out working on upgrades at the track. New grandstand seats and buildings have been constructed, as well as rewiring the facilities lighting and a fresh coat of paint.

Here;s the release from Race On Texas and a nice looking flyer:

The Return Of I-37 Speedway

Saturday, March 25th marks the season opener of the newly reopened I-37 Speedway in Pleasanton, Tx. The track is famous for its fierce competition, full show card and packed stands. Conveniently located off Interstate 37 just outside of San Antonio, drivers and fans are eager to show their support from all around South Central Texas.

Not in operation since the end of the 2012 racing season, the ¼ mile semi-banked dirt track was formerly known as I-37 Raceway. The new name change reflects a new promotion team ready to get the track back to being a popular racing fixture in Texas.

Driver turned promoter, Ray Doyon, is excited to take I-37 under his reigns for the 2017 season. He has set the bar high for his new role and intends to make this not only a “fan’s track”, but a track for the drivers. “Our goal is to have 100 cars in the pits every race with the largest spectator crowds South Texas has ever seen.” Doyon said.

As a seasoned driver and member of a family full of current racers, Doyon has prime advantage in knowing what is expected of a track from a driver’s perspective. “We want to have the largest payout for our drivers.”

Doyon also explained his plans to reinvest into the track throughout the year to upgrade where it’s needed and keep the track in premium condition.

Ray and his team have been hard at work giving I-37 a much needed facelift before it reopens. “We replaced over 70% of the electrical all throughout the track, invested in a new water truck, refurbished all the bleachers, and replaced the entrances to the bathrooms…” Doyon continues, citing a newly upgraded announcer’s tower, concrete added in front of the bleachers as well as a paved and landscaped victory lane. Doyon hopes the continuing upgrades help attract a new and growing fan base.

The 2017 season promises to keep drivers busy and fans with no shortage of opportunities for a night at the races. The 20 night schedule runs from March 25th until the two-night closer “Big Buck’s Shootout” on November 3rd and 4th. There will be six classes to hit the dirt on race nights; limited late models, street stocks, pure stocks, sport compacts, sport mods and modifieds. Rules and the full schedule can be found on the track’s website, www.I37Speedway.com.

An open practice will be held Friday night at 7pm with gates opening at 6pm. The grand opening races will begin at 6:30pm Saturday evening. Pit and spectator gates will open at 4pm. The track has applied for a beer license and while it is pending, you will be allowed to bring one small cooler to the spectator side with ice and beer only for a $10 charge. No glass will be permitted. Race On Texas will be filming all season long for the On Demand section of our website. Catch every lap by becoming a subscriber for only $8 a month or a year membership for $72. www.RaceOnTexas.com/OnDemand
