LoneStar Speedway hosts WoO Late Models Sunday, March 26

Recommended Posts

Kilgore, TX (3/20/17) - It's finally race week. Don't miss the only place you can see the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in Texas for 2017 - LoneStar Speedway, Sunday, March 26th at 6 pm. - before these outlaws ride off into the sunset.

The massive 400-430C.I. powered WORLD of OUTLAWS LATE MODEL SERIES will invade the 1/3 mile high-banks of LoneStar Speedway (near Kilgore Texas, I-20 and Exit 583; then north 1/2 mile and east 1 mile) THIS SUNDAY, March 26th at 6pm.

The LoneStar Limited Modifieds ($700/win) and Factory Stocks ($500/win) will round out the 3-division twilight racing card.

Nearly a $60,000 total event purse will be paid out on March 26th, which showcases a 40-lap WoOLMS A-feature event.

The current NOAA forecast shows: "Sunny, with a high near 76."

As the week progresses, you can keep up with the weather for LSS directly at: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=32.44542966300048&lon=-94.94854702899965#.WM_hhjra-M8

Tickets to this event will be sold on race day only (cash-credit-debit), and are $30 for Adults (ages 12 and up). Grandstand admission for ages 5 and under are FREE, and ages 6-11 are the regular LoneStar price of just $5! All pit passes, all ages will be $40. No charge for parking. No outside food/drink allowed through ticket gates.

Bonus: on Sunday March 26th only, the ENTIRE Reserved Section will be a FREE ticket upgrade! Reserved Section seats (bucket seats) will be available on the first-come, first-served basis, so make sure to claim yours early!

Upgrade your ticket even further? If you'd like to come early and get up close and personal with the drivers (selfie alert! autographed team apparel alert!), instead of coming to the grandstand entrance, buy a pit pass instead (at the pit shack on the north end of the pit entrance), then you have FULL ACCESS to all the race teams in the pits AND when you're done, every open seat in the grandstands to watch the races.

We have a concrete walkway that goes from the pits in corner 4 directly into the grandstands. For that matter, you can go back and forth from the pits to the stands as much as you'd like during the night...just be very cautious as race cars begin moving in the pit area in staging and coming off the track.

Fans can expect a large contingent of great regional drivers plus WoOLMS traveling drivers, including: Brandon Sheppard (IL), Rick Eckert (PA), Brian Shirley (IL), Tyler Erb (TX), Chris Madden (SC), Frank Heckenast Jr. (IL), Chub Frank (PA), Eric Wells (KY), Shane Clanton (GA), Billy Moyer Jr. (AR), Devin Moran (OH), Morgan Bagley (TX), Joey Coulter (NC), Chase Junghans (KS), Brent Larson (MN) an Donald Bradsher (NC).

Both Tyler Erb and Morgan Bagley of Texas have won major Late Model events at LoneStar Speedway in the past few years, so come out and cheer on these Texas WoOLMS drivers - at their only home track event of 2017.

One particular driver will be racing in the WoOLMS division with added motivation and drive: If you are a LoneStar Speedway fan, you know that the 2015 winner of the $10,000 LoneStar Armadillo Nationals in the modified divsion was Grant Junghans of Manhattan Kansas. Grant won over the LoneStar fans that weekend with his precision driving on the track, and friendly demeanor off the track.

But less than six months later, Grant would lose his battle with cancer (March 12, 2016). Grant's younger brother, Chase Junghans, will be making his LoneStar Speedway debut, competing in the WoOLMS division in this event. If you get a chance to visit with Chase, make sure you welcome him to LoneStar and let him know how much you enjoyed the opportunity to cheer on his brother during his Armadillo win in 2015.

Action fires off this Sunday March 26th at 6pm. The Pit Gate will open by 1pm, while the main grandstand area will open by 4pm. The driver's draw cut-off for heat races is 5pm, with a driver's meeting set for 5:15pm. Track packing and Hot laps are slated for 5:30pm, then WoOLMS Time Trials & racing to follow immediately.

Reminder, this is a dirt track and our number one goal is to provide a great racing surface for the drivers, so we have the right to adjust start times (forward or back) based on what the weather gives us that day. Assuming it's 'normal' forecast weather (temps in the mid-70's), our posted schedule is what we will be aiming for - so the entire program can conclude by 9-9:30pm. Right now the forecast shows temps in the mid-70's, so we should be okay...it doesn't appear that we're in some weird or extreme weather pattern.
