Statement From AM Racing Regarding Atlanta Motor Speedway

HAMPTON, Ga. – The following is a statement from AM Racing team principal Tim Self on the team’s decision not to participate in Saturday afternoon’s Active Pest Control 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway:

“AM Racing is dedicated to building a longstanding platform that will allow to be around for years to come. With that vision comes sacrifices. Collectively, we have decided to forgo our entry in Saturday afternoon’s race and focus on upcoming races.

“In addition to expanding and updating our current fleet, we’re building new trucks, while also strengthening our relationships with our new and existing marketing partners to set a core foundation for AM Racing’s future. We’ll be back at Martinsville next month and look forward to not only the rest of the season, but picking up where we left off at Daytona.”

In the opening NCWTS race of the season at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Feb. 24, the Mooresville, N.C. team scored second and ninth place finishes respectively with drivers Austin Wayne Self and J.J. Yeley. The results were personal bests for each driver at Daytona, while Self earned a career-best finish in 23 career Truck Series races.

“I’m very proud of what our team accomplished at Daytona,” added Self. “It was a huge undertaking to extend our program from one truck to two, but we did it well. It would not have possible without the support of AM Racing partners and Joe Gibbs Engines. Our Daytona efforts is a prime example of our reason to adjust our schedule for the year with the mindset of improving the overall AM Racing spectrum.”
