DCRP & Longdale Speedway Working Together to Better Racing in the Region

Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (February 16, 2017) – In an era in which some racetracks seem to come and go on a frequent basis, the two most well-established tracks in the Northwest Oklahoma-Southwest Kansas region continue to work together to establish the stability and strength of racing in the area.

Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, KS, and Oklahoma’s Longdale Speedway both rank as the premier dirt track racing facilities within their respective states.

Individually, both tracks have worked successfully to build solid regular programs along with special events.

Collectively, DCRP track promoter Tommie Estes, Jr., and Longdale Speedway promoter Greg Burgess have worked actively to negate any significant scheduling conflicts among the premier tracks in the region.

“We only have one or two dates that overlap, but we’ve made sure not to schedule on any of each other’s major dates,” Estes, Jr., of DCRP commented.

Both tracks feature a guaranteed, regular payout that is unrivaled in the region with DCRP presenting an overall points fund for its regular divisions at year’s end and Longdale introducing a point fund for its seven-race “Top Gun Series” of events in 2017.

The result is a solid, reliable schedule of events for the IMCA Modified, Sport Modified and Stock Car competitors in the area with DCRP hosting 14 nights of competition in 2017 and Longdale Speedway boasting a schedule that includes 23 nights of competition.

“Tommie & I have worked together to build some pretty special events in the past, now I look forward to working with him and building our track programs to benefit the racers and the fans in the region,” Longdale’s Burgess commented.

Longdale Speedway’s weekly card includes IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Pure Stocks while the championship card for Dodge City Raceway Park includes DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Longdale Speedway kicks off the 2017 season on March 11 while Dodge City Raceway Park fires into action on April 15.

Longdale Speedway is located one-half mile south of Longdale, OK, on Highway 58. For more information, contact the track at 580-886-5375 or check www.longdalespeedway.net.
