SIMENTAL THE MAN AT STS IN A-LINE DCRST

Recommended Posts

A-Line DCRST Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas point leader Drew Simental (37) picked the perfect weekend to sweep the racing action at South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi. After taking over the series point lead after the last race at Central Texas Speedway Simental attacked the dirt track and took care of business in fine fashion. In the 25 lap main event the drivers battled a dry, rough and sometimes unforgiving track. Three wide racing highlighted the early stages as James Fitzgerald (6) settled in to lead the event. A slew of caution flags and a long red flag period slowed the action and bunched the field a late race spin ended Fitzgerald's run at the top of the heap all the while Simental slowly worked his way to the front of the pack and found himself in the top 3 as an incident also sidelined Chase Havely (31) who had worked to the front pack. Simental took the point and through 2 green/white/checkered periods picked up his first career DCRST main event win. Chris Silvas (85), Ryan Stoy (20), Dillon Coyne (12) and Rodney Rodriguez (4) rounded out the slipping and sliding top 5. Rounding out the top 10 were Tyler Folkerts (42), Fitzgerald, Dylan Budnik (25), Chris Silvas Jr. (86) and Jerry Book (50).

Jim and Laura Fitzgerald added $50.00 contingency awards to each heat race winner at STS those were collected by Butch Havelka (27), Silvas and Simental.

Russell Rust DCRST driver and of M5 Utilities LLC also added $50.00 contingency awards as well. The M5 Utilities 5th place award picked up by Rodriguez, the M5 Utilities “Black Out” Hard Luck Award to Rusty Young (88) and Simental also picked up the M5 Utilities “Power Surge” Move of the Race.
