Midwest Sheet Metal Offers Show-Me Challenge

WAYCROSS, GA (May 25, 2016) For the fourth straight year, the Midwest Sheet Metal Challenge will return as a key part of the Show-Me 100 weekend. The 4th Annual Midwest Sheet Metal Challenge will provide a last-chance opportunity for drivers failing to nail down a coveted starting spot in Saturday's 100-lap main event.

The top-24 drivers that did not transfer into the Show-Me 100 (via preliminary events) will be eligible to start the $2,500-to-win, $250-to-start, non-qualifiers race - held prior to the Show-Me 100 main event. The winner of the 20-lap, Midwest Sheet Metal Challenge has the choice of keeping their $2,500 winnings, or forfeiting their earnings to start last in the 100-lap main event.

"This is the fourth year in a row that Midwest Sheet Metal has stepped up to sponsor this race," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said of the Springfield, Mo., company. "It has really become an important factor for the racers, as they know it gives them not only one last shot to get into the Show-Me 100, but it also gives them a chance to make a little extra money if they have had a bit of a rough weekend."

Iowa driver, Chris Simpson made the most of his opportunity a year ago. Simpson elected to forfeit his Midwest Sheet Metal Challenge earnings to start 31st in main event, then proceeded to drive to third place Show-Me 100 finish.

"Any time you get another chance to make the Show-Me, it's big," Simpson said. "We knew we had a good car later in the night. We just had kind of buried ourselves in the (B main) and the heat and we were excited to have that extra chance to get in there. A lot of guys don't take advantage of that. They just take the money and go home. For me, there was no doubt. It gave me an opportunity to move up through the field like we did. It really proves that it's worth taking the extra shot to get into the feature and work your way up there."

"We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Show-Me Challenge again in 2016," said Midwest Sheet Metal Owners, Chris and Jan Davis. "It's truly an honor to be involved with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil Speedway. The entire Lucas Oil family continues to make remarkable strides in motorsports and we are thankful to be associated with such a great organization."
