A REQUEST FOR KEN HOBBS

Ken,

I have a request related to the Memorial Weekend Race:

Many of us will travel fairly long distances to race this weekend. On a normal race weekend we go home Sat. nite (usually arriving home about 3 am), but since this is a 2 day race we will stay in CC overnite. That means the extra expense of 1 or more hotel rooms. Since this is a Nat'l holiday weekend, most hotels either don't allow cancellations or reservations must be cancelled at least 48 or 72 hrs before the reservation date.

Add to that the uncertainty of the track conditions and weather forecast, plus family that would rather we do something else anyway and we wind up with some tense decisions.

Please be considerate and make a determination on the race track status in time for us to be able to cancel these reservations in time, and still schedule alternate activities with our families.

Thanks,

Rusty

HRay,

I understand completely. This is very difficult for me. If I cancel to early in some cases due to the forecast and the forecast changes I can look like a fool. If I wait till the last second and it rains when the forecast called for rain all week again I look like a fool.

Here is where we sit. I always try to say it the way it is: The track and pits should dry out with some sun and no more rain. However we have a 50% chance of isolated rain on Thursday. These showers if they happen could hit the track or miss us all together. I Just don't know.

Here is what I know: I have spent nearly $2,000 this week getting ready for the races. If they rain out I lose just like everyone else. I understand where you are coming from and will do my best.

Thank you,

ken Hobbs

I live 4 miles from the track. The sun was out most of the afternoon wind blowing so good drying weather. I stopped by the track last night track was dry infield had been pumped out, a few wet spots in the pits but not bad over all. Ted and the crew must have worked hard all week to get it where it is now.
