RIP - MARIANNE SHERLAND

Marianne Sherland passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27 in San Antonio due to lengthy respiratory difficulties.

Marianne is remembered as assisting Terry Upchurch and having served as the Senior Pit Pass office staff member at every Texas Race of Champion event at Texas World Speedway. Many of the races included the Texas Pro Sedans and the former TIDA Late Model Series. All TPS and TIDA drivers and crews probably purchased their TWS credentials from a pleasant and helpful lady named Marianne.

Marianne Sherland is survived by her husband of more than 58 years “Cotton” Sherland. “Cotton” was a former driver at the old Pan American Speedway. He was the Chief Inspector at every Texas Race of Champion event at TWS.

She also leaves her two sons, Bob and Bill Sherland. Bob is a long time TPS driver. Bill has served on Bob’s #3 TPS crew at many races. Her daughter Robbyn Sherland worked as a Pit Pass office staff member at many TROC events at TWS.

Marianne is also survived by her grandson Scott McIntyre and granddaughter Amy McIntyre, son-in-law Richard McIntyre and daughters-in-law Laurie and Linda Sherland of San Antonio.

Listed survivors at Marianne's Funeral were: mother-in-law Eileen Kreger, grandchildren, Cody Lieder (Aayesha), Marlyn Lieder and great-grand-daughter, Sidney Crawford.

We all say goodbye to Marianne Sherland. Texas auto racing has lost another necessary and valuable race official.

Very sad news for all of us who benefitted from her cheerful, efficient attitude at all those events back in the day. Rest in Peace, Marianne.

Prayers for those who will miss her, especially her family and racing families.

Nick
