HoT Speedway 2nd stop on USMTS Winter Speedweeks Feb 18-20!

For those who followed the whole Gulf Coast Border Region tour last year, I'm sure they know about the 12 hour journey between Baytown and El Paso in the middle of Winter Speedweeks in 2015. Texas is a big place!

The good news is, there is much better travel for this year's version thanks to a reshuffling in the USMTS schedule.

It starts with a return visit to beautiful Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad to begin the season with Wednesday practice on Feb 10th and the first race on Thursday the 11th. From there 12 hours travel time will cover the ENTIRE SPEEDWEEKS instead of just one leg.

The next leg and the following 2 are just four hours or less travel time. Heart O' Texas Speedway just north of Waco will be the 2nd venue on Feb 18th-20th followed by Ark-La-Tex Speedway on Feb 25th-27th. Speedweeks ends at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore on March 3rd-5th -- much closer to home for many in these parts over the 2015 edition.

All the races are independent one-night shows featuring the same combined $9000-to-win each 3-race weekend as last year but there is a purse increase in the middle of each paydown over last year too. (See below)

The other change involves points and regions. One less region this year. Winter Speedweeks will kick off the $6000 to win USMTS Production Jars Southern Region points battle. When it ends in Ardmore on March 5th, there will only be one 10-day stretch left between April 28th and May 7th for the Southern Region. The region points finale will be at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo on May 7th.

Top 15 drivers in points from each region along with perfect attendance cars are eligible for National Championship Hunt points in August and September. Perfect attendance in The Hunt also guarantees a points payback of $2000. Combined $4000 as a minimum in all if you enter every USMTS event in 2016!
