Better Late Than Never for Racers - Snyder and Broadus win for the first time this season


MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Oct. 19, 2015) - It might be late in the season, but that first win of the season tastes sweet no matter when it comes.

On Saturday night at Memphis International Raceway (MIR), Russel Snyder and Caffey Broadus won their first Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams races of the season.

"It's a long time coming," said Snyder, who won the Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro class. "The car was really no different than it had been all season. We changed out a converter but that's the only change we've made. It was important to take what the track was giving us tonight."

Russel Snyder was one of two first time winners at Saturday night's Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams race.


After a number of runner-up finishes through the season in B&B Towing Footbrake, Broadus broke through with what he called a satisfying victory.
The other winners on Saturday night were Billy Foster, Sr. in RT Turbines DOT Street, Tyler Poindexter in RT Turbines Junior Dragster and Steve Wilson in Top ET.

Snyder beat Michael Hall in the Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro finals completing a night of near razor sharp consistency. Snyder crossed the line in 5.055 seconds at 128.84 mph on a 5.00 second index. Although Hall was off the starting line first, he slowed to a 5.532 second lap at 86.55 mph on a 4.84 dial in.

Broadus won B&B Towing Footbrake with a final lap of 6.229 at 92.97 mph on a 6.03 index over Mark Doty, who had problems in the final with a 11.802 at 53.19 on a 6.57 dial.

Foster beat Ron Hall in the finals of RT Turbines DOT Street when Hull left the starting line .037 seconds too early and fouled out. With the win in hand, Foster broke out on his lap with a 13.809 at 95.84 mph on a 13.82 dial.

Tyler Poindexter beat his brother Justin in the finals of RT Turbines Junior Dragster. During the pass, looked like Justin might be primed to take the victory, but ended up a little too quick in the end and broke out. Tyler's winning lap came in 8.363 seconds at 63.36 mph on an 8.06 index, while Justin crossed the finish line in 7.985 seconds at 78.91 mph on an 8.04 second dial.

Devin Johnson won the RT Turbines Junior Dragster Second Chance race over Wade Rose. Rose left the line .025 seconds too early and Johnson races to a victory lap of 8.729 at 74.05 mph on an 8.60 dial.

MIR's bracket racers will be able to keep their skills in shape at the Oct. 30-Nov. 1 Halloween Bracket Bash which features 2nd Hand Power Stock/SS Combo and RT Turbines Jr. Dragster races on Saturday and Sunday. The next scheduled Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams event will be Sunday, Nov. 8.

This week MIR will have its final evening Test N Tune of the season on Thursday night (TNT moves to Saturday afternoons starting in November). Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the track live from 6-10 p.m. It's $20 to race, $10 to watch and kids 12-under are free. Friday night is the final Midnight Madness of 2015. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. with drag racing, drifting and car show from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
