Points Precious as Season's End Nears

 

Drivers have just three more chances to move up the standings

 

 

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Oct. 15, 2015) - After banding together to claim a runner-up finish at the IHRA Team Finals, the bracket racers at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) return to their more familiar roles as competitors for this weekend's Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams on Saturday, Oct. 17.

 

The MIR season is headed to its home stretch with this weekend's event and two November bracket races left on the schedule, every round gains extra significance.

 

MIR's bracket racers are gunning for every point they can as the season is drawing to a close.

 

"There aren't a lot of points left out there for drivers to earn," said MIR Director of Operations Paul Cartwright. "We still have close races up and down the standings in our classes. Things are going to get intense before it's all said and done."

 

Race for the championship in Rick's Power Coating Super Pro could very well go down to the wire between leader Shane Stout, who holds a 23 point edge over second place Michael Hall. Further in the class Jeff Bobo and Leigh Hubbard are in a nip-and-tuck battle for third with Bobo holding on to a five point lead. There's a logjam from seventh to 10th with Brad Barclay, Ron Minton, Russel Snyder and J.R. Barclay all within seven points of one another.

 

In B&B Towing Footbrake, John Castellaw III has a 30 point lead over Caffey Broadus. TJ Tracy is making his own play for second place trailing Broadus by just eight points. David Ciarloni and David Elam are battling for fourth with 16 points separating the two racers.

 

In RT Turbines Junior Dragster, Justin and Tyler Poindexter are fighting it out for both family supremacy and the class championship. Justin is the leader but is only 19 points in front of his brother. The battle for third is as even as it gets with Drew Tracey and Devin Johnson tied with three races to go.

 

In RT Turbines DOT Street, Billy Foster Sr. has a 41 point lead over Cliff Hubbard.

 

The gates for Saturday's Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams event open at 4 p.m. on Saturday with time trails starting at 5 p.m. Spectator admission is $10 with kids 12-under free.

 

The weekend of racing gets started on Thursday night with Test N Tune. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $20 to race, $10 to watch and children 12 and under free.

 

Friday night brings in Street Warriorz with drag racing, car stereo contest, a judged all-makes car show and much more. Only $20 gets you into the party and to participate in as many of the on-track contests as you want. Gates open at 8:30 p.m. and the party goes on from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
