Swg
Would like to find someone who was friends with my dad or raced with him. Like to hear some stories. He raced at Meyer land speedway. Thanks in advance
RETrott
Bubba Remling ran in the BroncoStockCar class in 1966, driving the # 17 Pontiac, and can be seen on video/film from the event held on 9/25/'66. After selling our car from '66, and being delayed in putting together another car for '67, Bubba offered to let me drive his Pontiac to start the '67 season. Unfortunately, on the open house pre-season practice day the week prior to opening night, I was involved in a crash. An accident, but not of my doing, and after Bubba and his Dad made needed repairs, I was able to start the opening night heat race. But, then the crankshaft broke. After that, Bubba quit racing, as I recall.
cwbstr
I met and worked with Bubba and his father at Gillman Pontiac in the late 60's an early 70's. We also raced together at Meyer Speedway in the 60's. I drove the #16 Pontiac that went up side down after taking out 130 feet of fence in the middle of turn 1-2. I went to work in 1971 for the Stafford police Dept and dated Bubba's wife's sister for awhile. I was the 3rd officer on the scene of the accident he and his wife died in. The damage to the car was so great we didn't know his wife was in the car until we started to get him out. I made the death notification to his wife's mother that morning.
