Recommended Posts

October 9th and 10th will be race # 8 for the shootout. We are fortunate to be part of the CBS Showdown a race that has turned into an annual event to end the season for Cotton Bowl Speedway. This will be the next to last race for the Street Stock Shootout season. We look forward to every coming to this big event.

The South Texas Street Stock Shootout is very proud to be a part of the two night season ending Cotton Bowl Speedway Shootout coming up October 9th and 10th. This weekend will be the next to last race for the 2015 Shootout Series and a chance to tighten up the points leading to the Finale in November at South Texas Speedway.

Wade Jones enters this weekend with a 113 point lead over home track favorite, Heath Stewart. Stewart was able to hold off Jones for the win last time at CBS back in August and is obviously very familiar with the track and Central Texas racing in general. Brian Rye and CBS track champion are locked in a tight battle for third in points. Gordon has used the drop back bonus and his ability to get around CBS to rack up some passing points (leads Stewart by 2 in that category) and Rye had some bad luck at CBS pulling off early so you know he'll be looking to rebound and stay in that third spot. Early season point leader, Marcus Mikulencak is hanging on to the 5th spot after missing a few races this season but was strong at Shady Oaks Speedway over Labor Day weekend so if he shows up, the field will be stacked.

So we should have the drivers very familiar with CBS in Stewart and Gordon and perennial STXSSS Champion, Jones, but can Craig Oakes finish off the Hat Trick and win 3 in a row? Oakes has been on a roll in the BD1 machine since the last STS race and dominated the entire weekend at the last two night show in Goliad. Some of the best Street Stock drivers in the state will be there and who will be the one holding the trophy and doing interviews in the tech shed?

Several new drivers were at the last race at CBS so this field should be a strong and competitive field and the Shootout will be a good compliment to the fine classes racing at Cotton Bowl this weekend. We invite you to come out and enjoy "The Best Cotton Pickin' Show on Dirt" in Paige, TX. Two great nights of racing with all CBS local classes (plus Eco Stock on Friday Night, 305 Sprints and Billy Bob's Repair & Tire Southern Texas Late Model Series Saturday Night). Let's bring the CBS season to a close on a high note and enjoy a weekend of dirt track racing.
