Great American Bracket Race rolls into MIR this weekend

 

 

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2015) - The Seventh Annual Moser Engineering Great American Bracket Race (GABR) scheduled for Sept. 11-13 at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) isn't an event geared solely toward touring racers who chase big bucks across the country.

The Moser Engineering Great American Bracket Race has classes not just for the big electronics cars. Footbrake, Junior Dragster and Stock/SuperStock races are also on the schedule.

Stock/SS Combo when racing gets under way on Friday.

 

"This event is a great way for our local racers to be a part of a high stakes race," said MIR Director of Operations Paul Cartwright. "The competition is going to be tough in all the classes and we're looking forward to a strong car count all the way around."

 

Footbrake will race on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with $1,000 going to the winner each day and payouts going through the round of eight. Buybacks are $40 and available in first round only. A single day entry is $60 and a three-race entry is $150.

 

New to this year's event in the Great American Jr. Dragster Ultimate Challenge which will be contested on Friday and Saturday. The field will be limited to the first 16 entries. Each day, the winner will take home the $2,000 first prize and the runner up gets $500. The entry fee is $500 for both races (there is no single day entry or buybacks for this class).

 

Added to this event is the 2nd Hand Power Stock/SS Combo race which will be run on both Saturday and Sunday. Entry fee is $75 with no buybacks and the winner of each race can win as much as $1,500 depending on the number of entries.

 

Thursday gets the action started. Gates will open at noon that day for parking and registration. Test N Tune will run from 6-10 p.m. and is open to all cars, regardless if they are racing in the Great American Bracket Race or not. Admission is $20 to race, $10 to watch and children 12 and under are free.

 

Gates open at 8 a.m. each race day with racing starting at 9 a.m. on all three days. Weekend crew admission is $40, two-day crew is $30 and $15 one-day admission is available only on Sunday.
