Team Finals Rosters to be Decided - Results of Saturday's Summit Bracket Series race determine lineup

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Sept. 1, 2105) - The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams event on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Memphis International Raceway (MIR), is the last chance for drivers to earn their way on to MIR Team 1 at next month's IHRA Team Finals.

The top 13 drivers in Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro and B&B

Towing Footbrake along with the top four drivers in RT Turbines Junior Dragster will earn berths onto Team 1 should they choose to accept the berth.

"The Team Finals is an event our racers look forward to all year," said MIR Director of Drag Strip Operations Paul Cartwright. "There's some chance that those final spots could change hands, which makes Saturday's race even more intense."

Jesse Bobo currently sits in the bump spot in Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro. Bobo holds a 50 point lead over Ronald Bowers and T.J. Tracy. Either Bowers or Tracy would have to win the race outright with Bobo also going out early for the final spot to change hands.

The stakes are a little tighter in B&B Towing Footbrake. Troy Poindexter is up nine points (less than one round of racing) on Tommy Jackson II and is 40 points over Mark Doty.

In RT Turbines Junior Dragster, Drew Tracey and Devin Johnson are tied for third, which gives fifth place Tara Taylor a couple of targets she can leapfrog if she can make up the 23 points she trails Tracy and Johnson by.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with time trials starting at 5 p.m. Crew/spectator admission is $10.

Fans can get in on the racing themselves on Thursday night as Test N Tune gets back to its regular hours. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the track live from 6-10 p.m. Admission is $20 to race, $10 to watch and children 12 and under free. Friday night is Street Warz.
