top_shelf_12
This coming Saturday Night, the South Texas Street Stock Shootout returns to South Texas Speedway. The season is starting to wind down and the points are tight, just 3 points separating Wade Jones and Heath Stewart. Stewart coming off his victory in the last race at Cotton Bowl Speedway, looks to overtake Jones and try to dethrone the king of the series. Jones won't go down without a fight and Anthony Gordon, the passing points leader, may have something to say about the overall championship by season's end. Stewart, Jones and Gordon all proved last race that you can go to the back and race your way to the front and they don't need a bunch of yellows to do so. We saw very few cautions at Cotton Bowl August 8th and the Shootout drivers will do their best to ensure the race is won under green and by the drivers, not the situations around them. Local hot shoes like Steve Whiteaker Jr, Brian Rye may be in attendance to defend their home turf. Bill Stephens will look to return and have a strong showing as well. Jarrett Barber ran with the Street Stocks at the last South Texas Speedway event, maybe he'll be back too. Steven Doty and Kyle Carter have several laps in Corpus Christi race tracks, they will be tough to beat too. 2014 STS Pure Stock Champion and 2015 STXSSS Rookie of the Year contender Alaina Smith will be back on track trying to build off her top 10 last Shootout race and Top 5 her last time out at STS. You can count on a talented field of drivers striving to gain a win, either for pride or points and there will be racing throughout the field as we've come to expect from the series. The Shootout Series is proud to be a part of the show this weekend as South Texas Speedway also hosts a $1500 to win E Mod Challenge race. Double Headliner this weekend so come out and join us. Tickets are $12 for Adults and kids 12 and under are Free.
bobbys
I am partial to Heath Stewart. He carries the Sanford Electric banner on his car. Good luck to all competitors this weekend. Cannot be there we are running in Kyke. But these guys are the best of the dirt track street stocks in the country
