Big Weekend for Several Teams at the Mopar Nationals Presented by Williams Racing

GRAND BEND, Ontario, Canada (August 16, 2015) - The fans at the Mopar Nationals presented by Williams Racing were not disappointed by the final day of drag racing at Grand Bend Motorplex. They witnessed epic final round battles and two racers hailing from Canada take home IHRA Ironmen trophies.

The AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car presented by Aeromotive class came down to Mark Sanders versus Shawn Bowen and Jason Rupert versus Mike McIntire Jr. in the semi-finals. McIntire had trouble off the starting line and Bowen suffered motor problems, placing Sanders and current points leader Rupert up against each other. Sanders walked away victorious with a .008 holeshot win at 5.804, 249.86 mph against Rupert's .153, 5.765 second run at 249.79 mph.

In the Crower Pro Mod class, the finals placed two Ontario, Canada competitors up against each other. Paolo Giust from Osgoode, Ontario and Eric Latino from Port Perry, Ontario faced off for the Nitro Jam win. Giust wound up victorious in his 2015 Chevrolet Corvette as he ran a 6.088 at 232.97 mph against Latino's 7.063 at 147.17 mph.

The Pro Stock finals pitted Lakeshore, Ontario driver, Larry O'Brien up against Pasco, Washington driver JR Carr in the final round. The eighth-place qualifier, O'Brien produced the best time on the quarter-mile dragstrip and visited the Winner's Circle for the first-time in his IHRA career. O'Brien posted a 6.543 second pass at 216.34 mph versus Carr's 7.078 at 176.67 mph.

Bob Malloy dominated the weekend at Grand Bend Motorplex as he posted the quickest times in qualifying and followed it up with a win in Nitro Harley. Malloy went up against Tracy Kile in the finals and the duo had near identical speeds with 211.66 mph and 211.36 mph, respectively. Malloy's .133 reaction time and 6.542 second run proved to be the deciding factor against Kile's .276 at 6.657.

The Jet Dragster finals placed last week's winner Marisha Falk against Kat Moller. Marisha Falk left the starting line before the tree activated which handed the win to Kat Moller. Moller ran a 5.940 at 272.06 mph and the win marked her third of the 2015 season.

The last Nitro Jam Top Fuel winner returned to Winner's Circle today as Bruce Litton won against Todd Paton. Litton made a 4.977 second pass at 264.70 mph on the quarter-mile dragstrip against Paton's 5.113 second run at 284.62 mph.

The next event on the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series schedule is the San Antonio Nationals Fueled by Sunoco Racing on September 25 - 26, 2015. The race marks the second to the last event on the schedule and will be detrimental in determining the IHRA World Champions. Tickets are now available online at www.NitroJam.com.
