IMPORTANT INFO for Drivers and crew

Recommended Posts

South Texas Speedway Official notice:

Safety:

Due to the number of extremely hard wrecks at South Texas Speedway we are now requiring all classes to have some type of head or neck restraint. Examples are full containment seat, foam neck support or Hans device. This is effective immediately. If you are unable or cannot afford one please advise South Texas Speedway and we will find a way to get you one.

Also this past weekend it was reported to track officials that a vehicle carrying a car drove through the infield after the races at a speed that could have been unsafe. I talked to several drivers that were in the area and the ones who saw it agreed it was at a unsafe speed. The driver feels that he did nothing wrong. I however believe that there is enough evidence to suggest his speed was unsafe. Due to this I am placing that driver on Probation for the remainder of the season and giving a monetary fine of $200.00. This fine will be paid to the charity of the drivers choosing. South Texas Speedway hates to have to enforce rules with fines however the safety of our spectators, crews and drivers must come first. The driver has been advised of the penalties.

It has also come to our attention that some drivers and crew may be drinking alcohol before or during the races. This is not permitted. I will sending the Nueces county Police to walk the pits looking for this before and during the next race. Any crew or driver caught drinking during competition will be DQed.

Thank you,

Ken Hobbs

WELL to me anyone drinking before the show and driving or crew should be bared ..period .there should be no room what so ever for that in my books .that tells me they don't care about my safety or anyone else ...my wife at cc one year saw one of our drivers take a sip of beer before the races .he was really mad when she pulled him from that nights racing .he came to me crying and saying I needed to tell my wife to let him race he said only a sip was all he had .I said maybe so but how many did she not see and one sip was to many ...his pit pass was pulled .this may sound harsh but that is the way I feel ..that driver was a team mate ...ken. a back runner might be one you catch .dq will not matter to them..but good job either way .
