Nostalgia Cars Ready for Mega Mopar - Mid Central Fuel Altereds set to entertain fans this weekend

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (July 29, 2015) - Some of the region's best nostalgia drag cars will gather during the Mega Mopar Action Series' August 1 at Memphis International Raceway (MIR).

'Southern Pride' is one of the eight nostalgia cars that will take to the track during the Mega Mopar Action Series on Saturday, August 1 at MIR.
The Mid Central Fuel Altereds take to the track as part of the Mega Mopar lineup. The eight cars in the field will race three times during Saturday's program.

"These cars take you back to the golden age of drag racing," said MIR Director of Operations Paul Cartwright. "Each of these cars have their own look and personality on the track. To see them race is a real treat and a chance to take a look back at the kind of cars that started a lot of love affairs with drag racing."

These nostalgia cars bring big speeds and classic nicknames like Nerve Tonic, Money Taker, Southern Pride and Blown Insanity, but they are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all that's in store at this Mega Mopar Action Series event.

On the strip, there will be four trophy classes including races for tough trucks and Chargers vs. Challengers as well as two bracket classes. There will also be an all-Mopar car show that will have classic Dodges, Chryslers and Plymouths on display.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Saturday. Spectator entry is $20 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and children 5 and under are free. A car show entry is $30, the trophy classes are $25 each, Bracket 1 (electronics) is $50 and Bracket 2 (no electronics) is $40.

Fans can go to the MIR Facebook page or @racemir on Twitter to receive a coupon for $5 an adult admission or a free passenger with a car show entry.

The weekend gets started with Midnight Madness on Friday night. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Track is live from 8 p.m.-midnight. Admission is $20 to race, $10 to watch, children 12 and under free.
