Tough Trucks to Battle at Mega Mopar

Pickup battle just one of many exciting races planned for event

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (July 23, 2015) - Ram has been making some of the toughest trucks on the market for over 30 years, but which Dodge Ram truck is the toughest? At Mega Mopar Action on July 31-August 1, Memphis International Raceway will do its part to find out.

One of Mega Mopar Action's trophy classes will be the Tuff Truck battle, which pits the hardest working Hemi horsepower in a battle for dominance.

"This trophy race is

one of the most fun to watch the whole event," said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. "We get just about every Dodge truck under the sun in this race. We'll have daily drivers, work vehicles and look for a few tow trucks like we had last year."

The Tuff Truck battle isn't the only Mopar racing that will be going on during the weekend.

It all gets started on Friday, July 31 with Midnight Madness. Which will feature its normal slate of drifting from Traction Optional and a fan vote car show open to all makes and models. On the drag strip during that part of the event there will be showdowns pitting American muscle cars against import tuners and Mustangs vs. Camaros.

Gates open at 7:30 p.m. that night with track activity scheduled for 8 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $20 for racers, $10 for spectators and children 12 and under free.

On Saturday, August 1, the Mopar cars will have the spotlight all to themselves. There will be an all-Mopar car show, autocross and plenty of action on the drag strip with truck, street car, Hemi Challenge and Charger vs. Challenger trophy classes along with two Hemi powered bracket races that day are for box and no box race cars. There will also be an eight-car nostalgia drag car shootout as part of the day's racing.

Gates open that day at 8 a.m. Entry in one of the trophy classes is $25. A car show entry is $30. Bracket 1 entry is $50 and Bracket 2 entry is $40. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 years old and kids 5 and under are free.
