Burnout World Record Falls at MIR

 

Attempt generated wall of smoke, awaits certification

 

 

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (June 9, 2015) - A total of 114 cars of nearly every conceivable make and model jammed onto the Memphis International Raceway (MIR) track to unofficially break the world record for largest continuous tire burnout at Tuesday's stop at the Hot Rod Power Tour.

 

 

 

 

114 Hot Rod Power Tour cars took the track on Tuesday to break the World Record for tire burnout.

The Australians set the record on Jan. 1 this year, once the record is certified by Guinness World Record officials, the mark will belong to Memphis International Raceway, Hot Rod Power Tour and sponsor Continental Tire.

 

 

 

Approximately 3,800 cars participated in the Memphis Hot Rod Power Tour stop with hundreds more spectators filling the grounds before rolling on to Beale Street for a cruise-in.

 

 

The Hot Rod Power Tour rolls to Hoover, Ala., on Wednesday June 10 for its next stop.
