Holley Iron Man Series set for Sioux Center June 4, ready for Rock Rapids June 5

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa-Featuring both USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods, the Holley Iron Man Series will be in action this Thursday, June 4, at the Sioux Speedway in Sioux Center, Iowa, and Friday, June 5, at the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

USRA Stock Cars will be racing for $1,000 to win both nights while the USRA B-Mods are battling for $750 to win each night.

Thursday's event at the Sioux Speedway will feature the inaugural Mouw Motor Company Summer Celebration as the Holley Iron Man Series makes its first visit to the big dirt oval located at the Sioux County Fairgrounds.

The Sioux Speedway started as a figure-8 track in 1972. The track made the transition to a 3/8-mile oval one year later before transforming to the current semi-banked 1/2-mile configuration. Making a return to auto racing and several years without high-horsepower action, Sioux Speedway held its first "modern era" race in 1998 and continues the yearly tradition of hosting auto racing events.

The track has a wide racing surface with speeds reaching over 100 mph. The infield is lighted and has adequate room for pitting without unloading as well as room to pit outside the facility if necessary. Lighting was added in 2995, making night racing an exciting addition.

Grandstands open at 6 p.m. and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Tickets are just $12 for adults, $8 for seniors ages 60 and older, $5 for kids ages 9-12 and children ages 8 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $25. Hobby Stock will also be on the racing card.

The Sioux Speedway is located 1.0 mile east of Hwy. 75 on 7th St. NE in Sioux Center, Iowa (at the Sioux County Fairgrounds). For more information call 712-722-2512 or check them out online at www.siouxspeedway.net. You can also like the track's page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sioux.speedway.

On Friday, the Rapid Speedway will host the first of two Holley Iron Man Series events at the popular semi-banked 3/8-mile dirt oval located at the Lyons County Fairgrounds.

Spectator tickets will be just $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 7-14 and free for children ages 6 and under. Pit passes will be $25. Pits open at 5:30 p.m. and spectator gates open at 6 p.m. Hot laps start at 7 p.m. and racing will start at 7:30.

The Rapid Speedway is located 0.5 mile east of US 75 on SR 9, then 0.5 mile south on South Tama St. For more information call 712-472-2067, visit them on the World Wide Web at www.rockrapidsspeedway.com or check them out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RapidSpeedway.
