Memorial Day Weekend trifecta for Holley Iron Man Series USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods

DENISON, Iowa-USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods will share the spotlight with the United States Modified Touring Series at three big events this Thursday-Sunday, May 21-24, in Iowa and Minnesota.

Action kicks off this Thursday, May 21, as Malvern Trust & Savings Bank presents the Holley Iron Man Series at the Crawford County Speedway in Denison, Iowa.

The pits will open at 4 p.m. with spectator gates swinging open one hour later. Hot laps start at 6:45 and the first heat race takes the green flag at 7:15.

Adult grandstand tickets are $18, kids ages 6-12 are just $5 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35. Race fans can find discount coupons good for $2 off adult grandstand admission at Casey's General Stores locations in Carroll, Denison, Harlan, Manning, Sac City and Woodbine. On Saturday, USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods move north to the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for the 13th Annual Minnesota Spring Challenge presented by A&A Electrical & Underground.

Pits open at 2 p.m., grandstands open at 4, hot laps begin at 5:30 and the green flag waves at 6 p.m. Fans are invited to come out early and enjoy Slingshot action on the Button Buck Speedway beginning at 3 p.m.

Race fans can pick up coupons good for $2 off adult admission at Casey's General Stores locations in Lime Springs, Preston, Rochester and Stewartville. Then on Sunday, May 24, the 13th Annual Stars & Stripes Shootout takes place at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa. Presented by Weis Buick GMC, Sunday's blockbuster event will also feature USRA Hobby Stocks.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35. The Upper Iowa Speedway is a semi-banked quarter-mile dirt oval located 1.8 miles east of US 52 on SR 9, then 1.0 mile northwest on Montgomery St., then northeast on E. All three events will pay $750 to win for the USRA Stock Cars and $600 to win the USRA B-Mod main events. All three shows will also award national points in the USRA Weekly Racing Series.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND FAST FACTS:

RULES: All USRA rules apply. Stock Cars utilizing the 500 carburetor are allowed to use a 4-barrel. If you are running a 350 you can put on a 500 carburetor. If you are legal at your local weekly track (including tire rule), you are legal for these USRA events. See complete rules at www.usraracing.com or call 515-832-6000.

PROCEDURES: Draw for heat race starting spot ends 15 minutes before hot laps. Qualifying will be done by heat race passing points and "B" Mains. RACEceivers and AMB transponders are mandatory and available for rent or purchase at the registration trailer.

ENTRY FEES: USRA Stock Cars are $30 for licensed drivers or $40 for non-licensed. USRA B-Mods are $25 for licensed or $35 for non-licensed competitors.

YEAR-END POINTS FUNDS (each class): 1. $1500, 2. $1000, 3. $800, 4. $600, 5. $500, 6. $400, 7. $300, 8. $250, 9. $225, 10. $200. Points will include the best 16 finishes for USRA Stock Cars and best 20 finishes for USRA B-Mods. To be eligible for points funds, drivers must possess a valid USRA license, utilize the American Racer KK704 tire on all four wheels and compete in at least half of the Holley Iron Man Series events for their division.
