MIR regulars prosper in bracket field stacked with Pro-Am racers

 

 

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (May 4) - Even though the field for Saturday night's Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams was stacked with some of the top racers in the region, Memphis International Raceway's regulars still managed to shine through.

 

 

 

The field was made deeper by the IHRA Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL event that was running alongside Saturday's bracket race. Despite the higher car count, B&B Towing Footbrake winner David Ciarloni said the race didn't feel all that different.

I had some fortunate runs in there. I didn't race in the Pro-Am, I just came for the points race."

 

 

 

Ciarloni beat another local, John Castellaw III in the B&B Towing Footbrake final with a pass of 6.030 seconds at 110.31 mph on a 6.00 dial. Castellaw broke out by the smallest of margins with a pass of 6.179 at 110.58 mph on a 6.18 index.

 

 

 

Another MIR racing regular, Jeff Bobo won the Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro class in a close contest over Shane Stout. Bobo's pass of 4.719 seconds at 144.47 mph on a 4.71 index was enough to edge Stout's 4.824 at 136.65 mph on a 4.82 dial-in.

 

 

 

It was part of a busy weekend for Bobo, who won the Pro-Am race on Saturday and was runner-up on Sunday.

 

 

 

A couple of Arkansan racers battled it out for the R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster win. Jordan Holifield (Gosnell, Ark.) beat Kendra Lytch (Jacksonville, Ark.) right at the line when Lytch left .005 seconds too early and fouled out. Holifield's victory lap came in 7.897 seconds at 82.73 mph on a 7.91 index.

 

 

 

MIR regular Brianna Moore won the Pro-Am's Junior Dragster Master contest on Saturday and Devin Johnson was a winner Saturday in the Jr. Dragster Advance race. Tyler Poindexter was runner-up in Junior Dragster Master on Sunday.

 

 

 

Blaze Wolfford beat Devan Lowe in the R.T. Turbines Second Chance race. Wolfford ran a 8.077 at 75.06 mph on a 7.97 dial-in. Lowe wen

 

t 8.226 at 77.15 on a 8.22 index.

 

 

 

Randy Greggory was the winner of the R.T. Turbines DOT Street class with a pass of 12.946 at 101.65 mph on a 12.93 index over Bradley Sanders' breakout run of 16.395 at 79.29 mph on a 16.43 index.

 

 

 

Rusty Ashmore was the Top ET winner. His near-perfect lap of 12.095 at 103.47 mph on a 12.09 dial was enough to beat Steven Wilson's breakout run of 10.824 seconds at 100.64 mph on an 11.01 dial.

 

 

 

The next Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams event is Saturday, May 16 and will feature the 6.0 and 7.0 classes.
