Wray, Bryant bag USRA Holley Iron Man Series checkers at I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, Mo.-Round 2 of the Holley Iron Man Series took place at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo., Sunday, with Dean Wray (USRA Stock Cars) and Andy Bryant (USRA B-Mods) taking the top prizes home.

In the USRA Stock Car main event, Todd Staley drew the pole and led the first half of the 20-lap feature but Wray, who started fourth, took command on lap 11.

Jeff Dixon also got by the USMTS/USRA boss and chased Wray to the checkered flag but came up a little more than a bumper short of the win as Wray pocketed the $750 winner's share of the prize money.

Staley held on for third ahead of two-time USRA Stock National Champion Tom Schmitt and Thomas Roberts.

Defending USRA B-Mod National Champion Chad Clancy assumed control of the USRA B-Mod main event at the start, and looked to be on his way to an early-season win.

But Andy Bryant, who started ninth on the grid, reeled in Clancy and took the lead away with five laps to go.

Bryant held on to pocket the $600 paycheck while Clancy fended off defending Holley Iron Man Series champ Cory Crapser for second. Tim Eaton and Jenae Gustin rounded out the top 5.

Next week, the USRA B-Mods will share the spotlight with the USMTS Modifieds as the nation's best open-wheel dirt modified racers descend upon the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., for the King of America V presented by Chix Gear on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 26-28.

Last month, the USMTS forged an agreement with MAVTV to televise five events that will be tape-delayed broadcast on the growing cable network. The series of shows will begin with the upcoming King of America V presented by Chix Gear and bring the USRA and USMTS competitors to a national television audience while also giving series sponsors and those of the drivers some invaluable exposure.

The Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA B-Mods will run a complete show of heat races and main events all three days. Thursday's winners gets $500, Friday's winner gets $2,000 and Saturday's winner goes home with $1,000.

There will be an open practice for all drivers on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Admission to the grandstands is free. Pit passes are $20.
