bobbys
Has any one evr had a engine act like it loses fire at high RPM due to fuel pressure. I believe my electric fuel pump which is a Holley is not doing great. I have been chasing this. Changed ignition, wires, distributor and carb Same result. Can the fuel cell be bad? Changing to mechanical fuel pump tomorrow. Even changed motors. Lol. Any one else ever had this problem with fuel pressure? Any help would be great. I will put a fuel pressure gauge in tomorrow. Should of had this already. Just looking for anything any one has had problems and fixed them
Pacecar
Is the entrance to the cold air box closing off at high rpm & high speed?
poorboy
I had a battery cause the same symptoms. Happened after a wreck, I assume the battery was hurt in the wreck. Car started fine and ran fine until over about 6200.

Car started fine and ran fine until over about 6200. funny i just thought of the same thing before i read your post . ..had one do the same and it was not in a wreck .we spent weeks looking for that problem in 1989 .we replaced every thing plus went through the motor twice and could not find it .till someone at the shop needed a battery for their truck to get to work . they brought me a new battery and that car never misfired again at 6000 to 8200 rpm.s...sense then it has happened to me twice .. i sell batterys at work and have seen some strange things with some .even a new battery will cause that problem and 99 percent will test good .wont hurt to try a new one ........ j.j.&s.racing
Could be a button or power switch. same carb? Could be a power valve
Alloutpc17
Pretty sure if its only doing it at a certain rpm, its an ignition or electrical issue. Those holley pumps either will work or dont work. Might be a dumb question but if you have any MSD boxes or rev limiters, most positive thats it. bobbys
Some advice from Heath Stewart. May need a ground strap from engine to frame.
HiTech
IF it is the pinto ..yes add a ground ..even if it is on solid mounts the distributor can get a week ground off the block .. .sounds funny but ...now that i mentioned solid motor mounts ..not good on a stock pinto chassis front snout ..you do not want that motor locked down solid if it is ... we did that in 08 and cost us ten fold of money trying to find the problem . run stock mounts and chain or strap the motor where it has freedom to flex or move some ..vibration from the chassis will travel up through the carb when on the track and at higher rpm. that problem you have will only show up on the track if thats the case .....we have just one bracket we made in 08 the only thing we added to the car that year and it cost us a ton . it now hangs on the wall as a conversational piece where we shake our head on how a miner piece of metal killed our season and bank accounts ...lol.. i pointed this out in post 7. good luck hope to see you at cts pro sedan race . Alloutpc17
On some carbs, for street or drag, you have to have jet extensions. Happen to us when we would try to make a pass and at high rpm off the line it would cut out. Found out that we needed jet extensions. It worked. Just looking for anything any one has had problems and fixed them INCREASE SIZE OF FUEL LINE FROM TANK TO PUMP TO CARB DONT USE ANY ADAPTERS THAT ARE SMALLER THAN SUPPLY OUT OF TANK ELECTRIC PUMPS PUSH BETTER CLOSER TO THE TANK JUST A LESSON LEARNED MANY YEARS AGO . IF U R RUNNING A FUEL MAKE SURE SUCKING PORT STAND TUBE IS FWR IN TANK STICK UR HAND IN TO CHECK U CAN BE FOOLED BY JUST LOOKING !
