For the record

Recommended Posts

I want to say thank you to all of the racers and fans that offered words of encouragement and understanding after our car being disqualified Saturday after winning the Street Stock feature. Heath Stewart and Steven Doty in particular were both class acts.

The 4t car was disqualified for two "infractions".

1. Heim Ends were in the place of outer tie rods. There is no speed advantage here, I can duplicate the same results with stock type tie rods and several nights in shop moving steering linkages around to achieve same bump steer results.

2. The Right Rear lower control arm has Mono Balls instead of bushings. I can replace them with any type of hardness bushings that are available today. Taper ream the bushing and duplicate the exact same results.

The motor was cleared as legal as was the rest of the car. I totally disagree with the disqualification

decision but also know there is not a damn thing I can do about it. I just wanted everyone to know what the issues were.

I started racing this Street Stock deal because it was unique and appeared very competitive. We had no intentions of riding around in the back and calling it "fun". I will tell anyone that wants to hear it, get your act together if you intend to go out run the racers involved in this series. We had goals of winning this STP race and contending for the STXSSS title. We achieved one of our goals on Saturday. The second goal has been dropped for obvious reasons.

I want to thank some people for all their support. Our race team is primarily family.

Thanks to my wife-Tamra has made many sacrifices over the past 23 years while I chased circles of dreams. I love you and appreciate you putting up with me and my childish passion called "racing".

My Mom and Dad-Thank you both for supporting me for 30 plus years of racing. It never felt right when y'all couldn't make a race. Dad has been invaluable with 50 years of racing wisdom.

My brother, Ronnie- an Aggie Mechanical Engr with a passion for racing. He was willing to spend countless hours researching and improving any area of the race car. Thanks for your effort and focus to always make the car faster.

Bobby Grobe-one of my best friends and huge help in getting this program started last year when I didn't even have a shop. Thank you.

Rob Sanderson- Sanderson Motorsports, a great friend and one of the truly good guys in South Texas racing. He understands service and appreciates the business from the racers, please support his race parts business when you want to be treated fairly and kindly. Thank you for your support.

There are many more that I have missed but this is the core group of people that enabled me to do this.

I have said for the past few years, "When this isn't fun anymore, I am done". Well, this ain't fun!

I will being putting all of my equipment on Speedzone in the next few days. I hope the car stays in the area as it has the potential of being a dominant force in the right hands.

Ask the people in the grandstands who won this race, I think it was obvious from what I was told. I am proud that we were able to put a car on the track that was capable of this type of performance.

As for me, time to get closer to the Lord, go fishing more and learn how to play golf.

We most definitely don't want to take anything away from any driver especially one that finished first. Right now I hope to finish recognizing our street stock winner of this event with our championship belt asap.

First off I see why you was DQ on the tie rods it's in the rules stock type. But is your car a Camero or metric the reason I'm asking is I have a metric and the rules say ANY bushing is legal to use. Did you have the mono bushing type or just a mono ball by itself only asking Cuz I have the mono bushing type sense the rule says ANY. Thanks

Mr. Trigg

Never let anyone keep you from doing what you love to do I know you are mad but sit back and cool off when you do fix what you have to and come back whoop their ass and say Told You So!! You had a bad fast car along with good driving skills that's what it takes to be a winner with a half track on them. Give them hell at the next race I will be there cause this a must see!!

I wish it was that easy guys. There is so much more to this situation. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

I am inventorying parts and getting ready to post for sale ad. It tears at my heart but this is what is necessary at this time.

Mike

Just take a few days and see what happens with your situation. You are a hell of guy and straight up. Don't let last weekend take your love for the sport. I enjoy watching you kick @$$. Everything will wash out in time. Very nice meeting you last weekend. Snoman

Kinda have to agree with trigg. There really is no advantages with what he used. Seems to me he just kept it simple with the parts. I would have done the same thing honestly. Hiems are easy to come by and wont bend as easy. U hit a good rut on the track and it will bend up factory components and pop ball joints.

There was a huge rut in 1 and 2 and the stock suspension guys worked it just as 4t did and he was dominate all weekend long. That tells me that his parts gave him a competitive advantage. He could have kept it even more simple by following the rules as written. But what do I know, I'm just a photographer.

Finally someone standing behind their rules.....long overdue...kudos

This is exactly what everyone should be taking away from the weekend. Did they catch everything, probably not, but it wasn't from a lack of effort.

Or drove his car differently...and figured out how to hit the hole differently and use it to his advantage...like Mr. Leonard only allowing lf to hit it...u would have to ask the hole that answer.

They all looked to hit it the same from where I was standing, you know, in the infield and about 20ft away. ;)

Now I am laughing.......that is some funny stuff right there.

Good, now make your car legal and see if you can do the same thing. No one is denying you beat them on the track, like I said you were dominate. Do it within the written rules and really impress us.
