The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender battled through a loose-handling condition on AMS abrasive surface and continually made improvements throughout the event. After starting from the ninth position, Gallaghers Chevrolet was extremely loose from the drop of the green flag. The Las Vegas native took advantage of the races first two caution periods to pit for chassis adjustments to find a neutral balance while running in the top 15. Gallagher and his GMS Racing team were able to make significant improvements to the chassis through the last cycle of green flag pit stops and gain valuable track position. A loose condition returned on the races final run, but Gallagher was able to earn a 13th-place finish in his debut at AMS.SPENCER GALLAGHER QUOTE:"This is a big learning experience for myself and everyone at GMS Racing. Atlanta was a brand new track for me. We ran into a bunch of stuff that we weren't expecting and didn't see in practice. On the handling balance, we could never quite find the happy medium. We were either tight, or real, real loose. Every chance we made to the truck had such a big effect on it, and made progress on the last couple pit stops. I'm real pleased with what we saw out of our communication tonight.Ty DillonNASCAR Camping World Truck SeriesStart- 14Finish- 2Laps Led- 0Owners Points- 5Dillon Rallies to a Second Place Finish at AtlantaDespite battling a tight-handling Chevrolet for the majority of the 130-lap event, Ty Dillon finished second at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Dillon started from the 14th position and immediately reported a tight-handling Chevrolet to the No. 33 Rheem team. Under caution on lap 17, crew chief Shane Huffman called the young driver to pit road for right-side tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment propelling Dillon into the top-five for the ensuing restart. The Welcome, N.C., native would remain in the top-five for the remainder of the race and with multiple fast pit stops by the GMS Racing crew, Dillon took the checkered flag in the second position.TY DILLON QUOTE: "Im really proud of this No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet team. Shane (Huffman) and the guys worked hard in practice to get the handling right on the truck. We battled it for awhile, but they gave me a fast truck for the race. Shane (Huffman) made a great call on the first pit stop to take two tires. We needed that for track position, but we didnt have enough to track down the (No.) 88 truck. Well keep building on this momentum and get us up front this season.
