The first race will be by random draw with all rookies starting at the rear by random draw. In addition, any driver may opt to start at the back if they are not comfortable with their starting position.

After that, we will use this procedure:

The starting field will be split in half by point average. The higher point average drivers will start up front, but inverted. The lower point average drivers will start at the rear, but heads up.

This system makes the hot dogs work a bit for the lead since there will be some slower cars in front of them, but lowers the chance of mayhem on the start by having the slower cars behind the faster group.

This also gives someone who falls into the slower group a great chance to work his was to the pole should that driver earn his/her way into the faster group since the top half of the field is inverted.

I'm sure there are other ways to set the field, but this seem to work ok.

As you saw, the draw was not used for this 1st race after all. The field was divided in half and the fastest 6 started up front inverted. The rest started behind the front group heads up.

For the rest of the season, the points average system will be used.
