CRASH AT HOUSTON MOTORSPORTS PARK KILLS DRIVER OF 1967 CAMARO

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- September 29, 2014) - A driver was killed while practicing a drag race run at Houston Motorsports Park in northeast Harris County.

 

The driver of a 1967 Camaro drove off the end of the 1/8 mile drag strip, crashed through some barriers and then hit the wall.

It's unclear if the driver died at the scene or the hospital. He was the only one involved.

 

It's believed the car had some sort of mechanical failure leading to the crash.

Statement from Houston Motorsports park regarding the unfortunate accident that claimed the life of David Minx.

 

All of us at Houston Motorsports Park are deeply saddened by the recent death of David Minx on September 28, 2014. David was a well known and respected grudge racer and has been racing at HMP since day one. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family especially his father Larry, wife Amber and son David. HMP will be accepting donations at the track on behalf of the family and will also be donating a percentage of the ticket sales from this weekends events. At this time we ask you to keep Davids Family in your prayers.
