DCRP Title Chases Winding Down

Lonnie Wheatley, DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 20, 2014) – Just two more nights. That’s all that remains of championship chase action at Dodge City Raceway Park for 2014.

Following this Saturday’s card that is headlined by the Inaugural $1,000-to-win Sport Modified Mayhem event, all that remains on the DCRP slate is the Second Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event on September 27 that features URSS Sprint Cars along with the track’s five title chase divisions.

With only one night remaining after this weekend’s card, point ramifications loom large with Saturday’s action that includes the Sport Modified Mayhem event along with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets.

While a couple of title chases are still up for grabs, numerous positions among the top ten in each division are still being contested, with money on the line for each position in the form of season-ending points fund payout.

Saturday’s action goes green at 7:30 p.m.

IMCA Modifieds:

Down by four points entering last weekend’s event, Wichita’s Austin Allen took full advantage of Ryan Heger’s opening lap tumble by racing to his first win of the year to open up a 44 point advantage. But, Allen’s lead could disappear just as quickly as he got it with a DNF and Heger has scored his lone victory of the year in each of the past two season finales.

Only 40 points separate the five drivers ranked third through seventh including Cole Traugott, Nick Link, Kale Beavers, Jesse Smith and Mike Lunow.

The Modifieds have offered up eight different winners in nine events this season.
