San Antonio Speedway reschedules Speed-O-Rama Race Event

New Dates: July 12 & 13

 

SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 20, 2013) - San Antonio Speedway has decided to reschedule its Speed-O-Rama event to take place on July 12 & 13.

 

The 1st Annual Speed-O-Rama was originally scheduled for June 14 & 15. However, the races were cancelled late that Friday evening (June 14) when heavy rains drenched the already saturated pit infield and spectator parking areas.

 

"I know that everyone was very disappointed that San Antonio Speedway's Speed-O-Rama event was cancelled due to weather conditions," said Brian Bohlen, Director of Operations at San Antonio Speedway.

 

"It was extremely frustrating for us also," added Bohlen. "The forecast for Friday had looked promising earlier in the day, and we had hoped that we would get by with very little rain throughout the weekend, if any. We had also brought in several truckloads of road base to help with the muddy conditions caused by frequent rains throughout the week. Practice went well on Friday afternoon, but Mother Nature took over on Friday evening and forced the cancellation of the events for the rest of the weekend."

 

Drivers who had previously entered the Speed-O-Rama event will automatically be entered in the rescheduled race. However, check in at the Pit Registration table will still be required.

 

"We've been polling our drivers all week to see if they would be available to race on July 12 & 13," stated Bohlen. "Fortunately, about 90% of the drivers have committed to participating in the makeup event so we're moving forward with our rescheduling plans."

 

The event will also be open to drivers who had not previously entered the event. Although a Race Entry fee is required for all classes, no late entry fees will be charged. Drivers who had previously paid a late entry charge will be credited that amount towards pit passes for the rescheduled event.

Six classes of racing will be featured at this event - including the Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Trucks, Street Stocks, Tator Plumbing Chargers and Grand Stocks.
