Whats ever gonna happen here?

Of the three potentially restorable tracks in Central/South Texas, (San Antonio Speedway, Longhorn Speedway and Hill Country Raceway), this track would be the most feasible to restore.

This is true, but SA Speedway is opening again. The is activity there. From what I've seen and read.

I'm not even certain who is in charge of the place since Yankee passed....His son works with Greg at Sundowner, but I haven't wanted to ask and maybe touch a still sensitive nerve.....But that would be a starting point for someone interested....

I saw Melissa a short while back, she said they have a few legal hurdals to get over and she plans on getting it going again.

Id have to disagree with you Nick or am I to surmise that being feasible to restore isn't the same as being able to hold a race...

Of course. "Holding a race" and "restoring a track" are indeed two different things.

I truly hope San Antonio Speedway comes back to life, even if only for a race or two. Lots of folks are working very hard to see to it that it happens.

However, restoring SAS to it's former glory would require a substantial capital investment to on a piece of land that is owned by someone else - the Reeh family. I'm pretty certain that the former lease-holder, Terry Dickerson, was willing to invest to meet the city's infrastructure demands had he owned the property rather than just leasing it.

I understand that the Reeh family still has the property up for sale, so someone with enough capital could purchase the property and invest in infrastructure that would meet the city's stringent code requirements. At one time a few years back I typed up an offer from the lease-holder that was well over a million dollars. That offer was promptly rejected, but I am not sure what sort of money they are asking these days.

Well I guess it wouldnt take much to turn the cow pastures on the front stretch and back to be raceable. And I guess it would be the easiest to restore since it had no lights barely any electric or any other services. I know I photographed one of the first night races there... Had to set up a couple of pickup trucks in 1-2 a bobcat in 3 and I think a Gator in 4... I think Henry Witt won that race...
