‘Starr’ power to be high at THR for next 3 weeks

There will be plenty of “Starr” power at Thunder Hill Raceway (Kyle) for the remaining three Saturdays in August.

This Saturday (Aug. 14), “Digitz” from the JB & Sandy morning show on KMIX-FM (94.7) will be the Grand Marshall at Thunder Hill Raceway. Digitz will also hit the fast lane during intermission, as he will race the likes of Mike Barnes (KVUE-TV 24), Randy Stevens (San Marcos Daily Record) and Erin Hogan (KVET-AM 1300) in the THR Grand Stocks cars.

This Saturday will also be Captial City Trade & Technical School Night at THR. “Tatum Long and her hard-working crew will be there with some great CCTTS giveaways. We appreciate CCTTS’s first-year sponsorship of Thunder Hill this year, and we’re proud to have Tatum and the entire gang from CCTTS out at our track,” said THR Marketing/Media Director Chuck Licata.

NASCAR star David Starr makes an appearance as THR Grand Marshall on Saturday, Aug. 21. Starr, considered one of Texas’ “favorite sons” of racing, drives the #75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet and currently sits 11th in the NASCAR CTS points, will make the trip to Austin from his Irving home on Aug. 21, the one weekend in August the CTS doesn’t have a race.

Ironically, the Lone Star region of the AllStar Race Truck Series (ARTS) will be running at Thunder Hill Raceway that night, along with the Texas Dwarf Car Association and THR’s local classes – the THR Late Models and Grand Stocks, the A-Line Auto Parts Street Stocks and the Capital City Trade & Technical School Hobby Stocks.

AMSOIL will sponsor David’s appearance at Thunder Hill and will give away several items to THR fans. David Starr merchandise should also be available that night.

Rounding out the month at THR will be the appearance of Ivan Putski, the former wrestling TV hero from the late 1970s-early 1980s. Putski will serve as Grand Marshall on Aug. 28 at THR and give local racing fans a good dose of “Polish Power,” his signature trademark.

Thunder Hill Raceway is a 3/8-mile paved oval race track that runs races every Saturday night from March through October. THR is located off IH-35 at exit 210 (Yarrington Road exit). For more information, please visit THR's web site at www.thunderhillraceway.com or call the track at (512) 736-8230.
