Pressure. A word that seems to have very little effect on #91 NASCAR Fiesta Modified driver, Zak Hausler. Not only is this 16 year old undefeated at Houston Motorsports Park (HMP), winning all 7 races this season, but he has won the last two with a Bounty. The higher the bounty, the more determined this youngster seems to become, finishing almost a half a lap ahead of 2nd during the most recent race, Fiesta’s Spring Shootout held on May 14th. The Bounty Bonus which started out as $1000 by HMP on April 30th, increased to $2000 by Fiesta Mart on May 14th. With the Bounty appearing safe and secure, Trucks Drive America has now increased the Bounty Bonus to $3000 to anyone that can outrun Zak, fair and square. Wondering what that fair and square means? Ask any five year old and they will tell you what is fair and not. In regards to the Bounty Bonus, fair and square means that the bonus will not be awarded to a driver that takes Zak out of the race or out of position by causing him to spin or crash. “Dirty driving will not be rewarded with the bonus,” stated John Mandabach, HMP Vice President & General Manager. “Though HMP allows rough, aggressive driving and believes respect is earned and given on the race track not by any set of rules, the bounty will be withdrawn if that happens.” Drivers must win the race by cleanly outrunning the current HMP points leader. Hausler is also currently ranked 3rd in the Nation in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series point standings, published on NASCAR’s Home Track website at www.nascarhometracks.com. Trucks Drive America (TDA) is an awareness program whose preface is that without trucks, America stops. "You Name it....A Truck Brought It" is their motto. “It's my opinion....we're witnessing something really special...for the Modified class, Zak, and Houston Motorsports Park,” stated TDA spokesperson, Bernie Warriner, Jr. “There is a real opportunity to put Houston Motorsports Park on the map in the NASCAR Nation.” In addition to contributing to the Bounty Bonus, Trucks Drive America is also contributing $1000 to be split equally among the May 28th winners of the NASCAR Cricket Late Models, NASCAR 360 Trucks, Pro Stocks and Ecostocks. TDA is also providing a premium winner’s trophy for each class. Warriner believes “Getting the purses increased, helps bring more cars, helps fill the stands and helps make "The Show". Every race weekend seems to get better and better. I'm happy to be able to support this great sport, and support my home track.” TDA has issued a challenge of any future Bounty Bonus sponsors to match their additions contribution. The next chance drivers will have an opportunity to seize the Bounty Bonus and end Zak’s domination will be on May 28th at HMP’s Palace of Power Scramble. Spectator gates open at 5pm and racing runs from 6pm to 10pm. Adult general admission is $12 and it is $1 Ladies Night. Children ages 12 and under get in free. The facility also features $1 hot dogs, $1 cokes and $1 beer at all Saturday night oval track events. usra43 Posted May 19, 2011 Report Share Posted May 19, 2011 Now does someone have to chase him down and beat him and get the money fair and square, or if Hausler spins, gets taken out, has mechanical problems, wreck, etc. Does that still apply on the bounty? Houston Motorsports Park Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Share Posted May 19, 2011 if Hausler spins, gets taken out, has mechanical problems, wreck, etc. = No Bounty Bonus. If any of those happen, the winner still gets the purse for that night but does not get the Bounty Bonus. Drivers can't spin him, crash him or take him out but they can lean on him a bit.
