We're checking with the new CCS owners to see if the TSRS race is still on. I think Mary Ann is planning to give them a call today. We'll definitely let y'all know when we've heard more.

dan said in the meeting that he was going to try to honor all of the speedways races it had scheduled.

The press release below was issued by Chuck Licata, TSRS Media, on February 28, 2009:

‘Super Pack’ offers TSRS drivers a ‘championship within a championship’

The Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS), Texas’ premier late model series, gets ready to open its sixth season on March 14 at the Allstate Texas Thunder Racefest at Thunderhill Raceway (Kyle, TX).

But while TSRS founder/owner Mary Ann Naumann and her crew are getting excited about the start of a new season, TSRS officials also realize that many are going one of the worst economic conditions in U.S. history – and that includes local and state drivers.

Thus, the “Super Pack” Championship has been created.

TSRS officials have tabbed six races inside the series’ 12-race schedule that will comprise the “Super Pack” championship. Drivers who know they won’t be able to run the entire 12-race schedule can focus their energies and resources to win “a championship within a championship.”

The six races are as follows: March 14, Allstate Texas Thunder Racefest (Thunderhill Raceway, Kyle, TX); May 2, Houston Motorsports Park; July 3-4, Red River Speedway (Wichita Falls, TX); Aug. 1, Houston Motorsports Park; Aug. 29, THR; Allstate Texas Stock Car Spectacular, THR.

“We know drivers and teams are working hard to gather the resources to make a run at the 2009 season,” stated Naumann. “This Super Pack format allows them to save their resources to basically run once a month over the race season. In that way, teams that may be struggling can still have the thrill of racing for a championship over the course of a year.”

TSRS officials will put out two points standings during the year to reflect both the season-long points’ championship as well as the Super Pack points championship.

In other TSRS news, series officials confirmed the April 18th race date at CC Speedway (Corpus Christi, TX). CC Speedway is now under the new ownership of Dan and Kandy Monroe.
