OT you make a good case for not building a Ford.If they are so slow and cost so much why start with one?If a FWD is so much faster and less expensive why not use one of them?If I was just starting out I would look at what kind of car would be the best choice.Ford?too slow and costly.VW?Great success with 3 drivers,Horton,Villerreal and Carter.Honda?the fastest of all with the 220 HP V-Tec all factory stock.Neon?very fast and pleantyful, lots of parts cars very cost effective.Drawback?you have to know your car well to keep it running well.Wait, thats true of ALL cars.Other makes?we dont know because we live in the past so much we never found out. Both Will and Todd brought the new breed but were always chastized for it.They were the pioneers but the natives drove them away.Just like they did to my RWD car,the air cooled KG.You changed the fuel rule to pump gas knowing the air cooled cannot run that and make any power without cooking the heads.Likewise with the 5200 Holley carb Air cooled needs air.Protecting the Fords from my air cooled Karman Ghia got rid of it but guess what. The door was wide open for Mark Villerreal and his Scirroco so he came in and with pump gas and a 5200 carb won 17 features and the championship because you Ford guys shot yourselves in the foot. The funny thing was the Ghias fastest time on street tires was a 17.25.While you guys were blowing head gaskets I was petetioning the track to allow race gas(lower combustion temps) and a big carb so you guys can keep an engine together.

We have had automatic cars already but somehow people dont keep up with whats happening.Anthony Monroes VW truck and Don Jrs # 10 Golf were both automatics.Them aside, look at what cars are in the auction pools and junkyards to see what doner cars are available.Say your a new team and have a small start up budget. What are you going to use?The rules should give you options.Right now if you want something to progress to the front, you need a heavy big engined standard car.Is this what we are going to try to sell to potential newcomers?

I dont fault anyone with a car now.I agree with Pappy theres no need to rewrite the rulebook and chance loosing any cars we have now.At the same time we do need to open doors for more entrys to be successful. One day the class will be all Neons,Hondas,Mitsubushies,Cobalts,Focuses,Nissans, and the like. Why not start right now with the Dodge Spirits,Ford Tempos and Escorts,Honda Civics,Toyota Celica FWDs Chevrolet Caliliers and all the other fine cars that are in abundance today.Give them what they need,a performance advantage for automatic cars and a weight break for small engine cars.I know many of you dont want a pound per cc and I know why but a car with a 1600 or 1800 cc engine should not have to weigh 1.5 pounds per cc eather.A good formuls would be pound per cc BELOW 1900 or 2000 cc and keep the 2100 for above 1900 or 2000 cc carsThis would allow a 1600 Civic or a 1900 Escort or even a 1800 FWD celica to have a chance.BTW I am in the upper weight anyway so it does not affect me.

Welcome the new breed, give them what they need, encourage them.Guess what, the young people dont get excited watching a bunch old dinosarus like us.They watch the Tuner cars with wings, ground effects and flames. The old guys still think its only a race car if its a V8.But we all know a turbocharged nitrous burning Honda would smoke ANY V8 put on the track. That should be our ultimate goal.Lets dont waste this chance to be successful again. gb you make a good case for not building an automatic ...to heavy .. small motors .. you would put a small motor in your car fast if the rule was 1 pound and i take it its not at one pound at this time ..i havent read the rules ..lately ...... ..now i have not heard anyone that ran an auto complain ..thow i have not been racen much with cc ..so i really cant go there ...but if the wieght rule is what kills them then i dont know what to say ..even if the rule was 1 pound i could not get one of our cars light enough to run one pound .not with out safety loss involved ..... now i said it and pappy said it ..something needs to be done ..but someone needs to get one out there toyotas ..chevys and what ever and go from there ..remember when david horton brought out the first fwd vw ..we didnt know what to do to help him ..untill he got faster and found to be limited to what he had ..so the rules were adjusted to help .and got out of hand as every year after that as you and all those fwd teams figured out how to make those cars run ...and then that battle was on ..and it has been a fight ever sence ... .and will always be a battle .. something that cant be fixed without enough rwd and fwd being built to have two classes .. you and i can point fingers aboult who got what to make them faster verses who didnt first second or thierd .. dont really matter does it ...so the best thing i can say is ..seing you have a junk yard and probably prevy to toyotas ..chevy.s honda.s vw .mitsu.s yugo.s . and what ever ..give out some of those cars you want to race and help them build them and start a class ..once they get faster move them up to what is running now ..and if that kills what we have now ..then so be it ..its going to happen someday anyway ... one other thing ..you talked aboult will leaving cuz of poeple gripping aboult his car ..i did not here to much aboult it ..anyway ..i suppose your not going to make this weekend to the meeting ..sorry ..i wanted to visit with you ..see yah
