springs

I think shocks are one of the most effective tuning mechanisms available to racers today.

But, in my opinion, the weight distribution, roll center locations, roll axis height, front and rear geometry and springs all need to be "right" and tuned properly before getting the final .2 or .3 seconds with the shocks. I like to put on 50-50 shocks and old tires while the car is going through the basic tuning process. This way we can more clearly see what the actual problems are with the car, fix them without using crutches.

Just the way I do things. Others use different techniques, but I have found this works well in most situations.
