Lonesome Ford
Seems like this has all been thrown in Carlson's lap all of a sudden. Well he is the owner afterall. Along with the landowner. They both stand to make a LOAD of $$$ if Toyota wants the property.
NickHolt
Seems like this has all been thrown in Carlson's lap all of a sudden. Well he is the owner afterall. Along with the landowner. They both stand to make a LOAD of $$$ if Toyota wants the property. It's time to clarify the dynamics here. Lillian Reeh owns the property. She leases the use of the property to Ted Carlson. Ted Carlson does not stand to make any money if the property is sold since he does not own the land. Ted Carlson put the word out a few years back that he was no longer interested in running the track under the lease agreement he had with Ms. Reeh and indicated that he planned to cease operations. TD stepped up and worked out an arrangement with Mr. Carlson that permitted him to manage the track for Carlson. So, all Carlson had to do was take TD's monthly payments and forward them to Ms. Reeh. So, 1) Ted Carlson owns the lease which is still in effect but he does not own the property. 2) TD does not own the property nor does he own the lease. He did, however, take on the responsibility of operating the place until today at 6:30 p.m. 3) Lillian Reeh owns the property. In addition, she collect a percentage of the front gate every race. If the place does sell for her asking price of $5 million, neither Ted Carlson nor Terry Dickerson will benefit from the sale. Now that we have that straight, it should become clear that Mr. Carlson could continue to operate the track without TD's involvement. Therefore, the whole deal is in fact back in his lap. REBELRACER
we were just talking about this the other day, didnt think it would happen this soon though.........our thought was that the land the track is on would end up like any other piece of land that the older (for lack of better word) land owner passes on and the children take it over and decide to jump on the first big money offer that comes along.........glad to hear it wasnt the case here, but it is only a matter of time before it is sold and becomes a strip mall and a super walmart center like they did to brooks afb..........jmo

WILDTHING
If Terry offered the land owner 1.9 million for the property why cant he put up the $80,000 for renovations Rather than invest the (very conservatively) estimated $80,000 needed to renovate all the major speedway infrastructure, Mr. Dickerson did indeed decide that it was time to fold. Renovation does cost a lot, but isn't their major constructions companies that sponsor cars that race at San Antonio Speedway. I am sure these companies would have helped or a least cut a deal with Terry. Maybe he was just mad that his offer to buy the Track or at least the land was shot down. Who knows, but one thing is for sure the great racing at San Antonio Speedway will be missed
w2racing
If you had that kind of money sitting around, would you give it to your neighbor knowing that he does not have a job and is thinking about moving. I don't think any of us would. The reason for the offer of 2 million for the entire package, is so that he would get the ownership of the land, track and all the problems. It would be his to do what ever he wanted to. But to give away $80,000 to start, does not make the track operator a bad guy. So don't bad mouth him. I wish that he and his partners would take that 2 million dollars and open a new track.
