Weekend specials open season at Abilene Speedway

ABILENE, Texas – A pair of special events will open the 2003 race season at Abilene Speedway.

First up is the Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22 Ice Breaker, with

I.M.C.A.-sanctioned Modified, Sprint Car, Stock Car and Hobby Stock classes on the card for features both nights.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Friday, hot laps are at 5:30 p.m., the draw closes at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m.,hot laps are at 5 p.m., the draw closes at 6 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.

First-place money is $600 for the Sprints, $500 for the Modifieds, $300 for

the Stocks and $250 for the Hobbies.

The Ice Breaker is presented by Smiley’s Racing Products.

The opening event for Modifieds and Stock Cars running the Day Motorsports Texas Super Sunday Series is on tap Feb. 23, with Sprints and Hobbies rounding out the program.

Following a 10 a.m. worship service, pit gates open at 11 a.m., hot laps are at 11:30 a.m. and the draw ends at 12:30 p.m. The first heat race is penciled in for 1 p.m.

Modifieds will race for $600 to win, the Stocks for $300.
