NeilTPS
Two TPS drivers split Twin Features Races at SAS San Antonio, Texas – July 15, 2006 – By Neil Upchurch – TPS Race Director For the second time in the historic racing record of the Texas Pro Sedans, two Feature races were contested on the same race night. The starting grid format was changed since the first event of this type on April 15th at SAS. In the Twin Feature races Feature race #1 inverted the top half of the field from 2006 TPS point standings. The second Feature Race inverted all lead lap finishers from Feature race #1. The winner of the first 20 lap Feature Race was Tom Johnson in his VW Rabbit. He bested a starting field of 17 cars and crossed the finish line with a 4.67 second margin of victory over the runner-up Lalo Leal in his and Rico Gutierrez’s Ford Mustang. Tom Johnson was the TPS “Rookie of the Year” in 2005. The win was his first victory in TPS racing In the first 20 lap Feature race, Donnie Moore saw his five race winning streak come to an end in the familiar #70 VW Scirocco which is owned by George Merrell and headquartered in Kingsland, Texas. Moore ran near the front until carburetor problems caused him to pit on lap 11. Defending TPS Champion Sergio Hexsel was running in second place until on lap 12 when the leader, Jamie Garner spun out of turn 2. Hexsel contacted Garner’s VW. Garner continued , but Hexsel’s VW Rabbit was out for the night with suspension damage. The winner of the second 20 lap Feature Race was Donnie Moore in the #70 VW Scirocco. He took the checkered flag ahead of a smaller starting field of 16 cars due to attrition from race #1 and crossed the finish line with a 1.46 second margin of victory over the second place driver, John Wasek, driving his new #47 VW Scirocco. Jack Dishman was blacked flagged out of first place during both Feature Races when his #2 Ford Mustang produced smoke and dropped oil on the track due to a cam cover leak. The Texas Pro Sedans were again the largest class at SAS on July 15. The event had an entry list of 26 cars. 19 cars signed in at the SAS pit gate. The second Feature race had a reduced starting field of Texas Pro Sedans due to attrition from the first Feature race. By contesting two races on the same date, the TPS driver point standings were shuffled like a deck of cards. With his performance in each of the Twin Features Races, Donnie Moore continues to lead the 2006 Texas Pro Sedans driver championship points chase. The next Texas Pro Sedans race will be at Thunder Hill Raceway on Saturday, July 22 in a “make-up” rain date from July 2. In the event, two 8 lap qualifying heat races and a 20 lap feature race will be contested. BigDish2
So contact after a checkered flag doesn't warrant any action??? That's interesting. Thanks SA officials and crew for helping to load the car back on the trailer we all almost got out of there early. Oh and Neil appreciate you and your officials for coming by the pits and checking on the status of your driver and car that was hit into the wall after the race. The 1 and 2 car will not be at Kyle next week. Good luck to everyone.
NickHolt
Congrats to Tom for his first ever TPS win. Lots of hard work in that car. And it's good to see Lalo finishing near the top again. Dish - I beileve at least three drivers are now on TPS probation for "rough driving." Check the results that Neil posted earlier. Mona
What does official probationary warning consist of? The #48 car should be suspended for a few races or even rest of the season. That was uncalled for. Not only tearing someones car up but possibly hurting or even killing someone is cause enough to keep them off the track. I know I don't have a dog in this hunt, but it did bother me to see this happen. I'm a driver in a SAS class, imagine what the fans thought. BigDish2
Oldtimer, Maybe Neil or #48 will explain why he(#48) tagged the #1 car after the race and sent it into the wall. By TPS guidelines, explained every drivers meeting, fastcars are supposed to pass on the outside. Why would there ever be contact on the lowside if your a faster car? We will not be in Kyle but should be ready for the next SA race.

BigDish2
Last night was a different situation. I said in the drivers meeting that penalties would be issued without warning for avoidable contact. TPS Officials had "eyes on" both incidents involving you & #70 in race 1 and you & #48 in and after race 2. Something was done as probationary warnings were issued to all three listed drivers (see the official results). Since you posted that you won't be at THR July 22, your single probationary race will extend to whenever you do elect to return to TPS racing ..... if ever. Neil If ever..... What does that mean??? Someone sticks my car in the wall after a race and you make sound like I deserved it. the drivers of Car #1 and Car #48 were issued rough driving, official probationary warnings for avoidable contact during the aforementioned race, effective at their next TPS race. Neil, are you saying I could have avoided the contact of #48's front bumber after the checkered flag? Please explain and so I know how to avoid this type of action next time! Because a totaled car and a knocking motor is a high price to pay for avoidable contact like you are saying. So basically it's ok to be upset on where you finish a race and take out the car that beat you. That's what it looks like to me. Thanks Bryce
maz1438
If ever..... What does that mean??? Someone sticks my car in the wall after a race and you make sound like I deserved it. Byrce, i believe that the warnings and probationary Neil was refering to was for the other unavoidable contact that yourself and the #48 car had made during the race also, not to mention all of the other cars you made contact with during both races. But i honestly dont feel that the #70 car should have been giving a warning for rough driving with yourself in the #1 race due to the fact that it was you that tried to bump him while he was passing you. But i do think it is funny that you have the nerve of asking/demanding that the #48 car be suspended for what happened due to the fact what has happened/occured during most of racesthis season. Maybe you should ask Neil for the percentages of how many yellow's that you have caused during the season, or better yet, maybe you can think/recall/remember how many total cars you hit/bump during both races that night. Now dont get me wrong or misunderstand what i am saying, because i dont think that anyone deserves to be pushed into the wall, but i can honestly say that most who know Knotts (#48) would say that he is not a dirty driver and that is not his style. The only thing i could imagine that happened, is that his throttle must have gotten stuck.
BigDish2
For one why would #70 be passing on the low side? Every drivers meeting Neil states faster cars pass on the outside slower cars move down. Currently Donnie's faster so I moved down and we touched luckly no damage caused to either car. Secondly never said #48 was a dirty driver or asked/demand for him to be suspended. IF probation is all you receive for a post race incident what's to say something like this will not happen in the future with the another driver knowing all he'll get is probation for hitting another car after the checkered flag.
maz1438
If your car was totaled with possible motor damage after the checkered flag would probation for the other driver be enough punishment? Seems to myself your not satisfied with him getting just probation. HUH? As far as the #70 car goes, maybe that hit into the wall must have altered your memory. Maybe you should remember when/where your car was on the track on the straight-a-way right before he passed you.
HiTech
this may get ugly who selling the tickets . i think mike and brice need to talk .cuz poeple have there own ideals here and some or taking the time to vent there dis like of a driver out and they and i are not even the drivers i nvolved here . so mike yah get together on this only you and brice can fix this no neil no me no anyone . the last thing you want is to wreck other drivers cars . and i know what i would do so thats why i talk to the other driver know matter how mad he is .and i know brice has another car .
