Circuit of The Americas™ names Jason Rittenberry chief strategy officer AUSTIN, TX (September 9, 2015) - Circuit of The Americas (COTA) announced today that Jason Rittenberry, CFE has been named chief strategy officer. In this position, Rittenberry will serve as part of the senior leadership team and be responsible for developing new business models and revenue streams for COTA. MASTERS HISTORIC RACING TO PROVIDE SUPPORT RACE AT THE 2015 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is proud to announce that Masters Historic Racing will be providing a support race during the 2015 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, set for Oct. 23-25. The U.S.-based series last made an appearance under its previous ownership at the inaugural 2012 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX at Circuit of The Americas and is excited to be returning in 2015. Entries will be invited from the Masters Historic Formula One series' in the USA and Europe and it is sure to be a spectacular array of historic F1 cars. This will be the only chance for the historic Formula 1 cars to take part in a modern F1 race weekend this year and it will provide an eye-catching finale to a busy season in the USA and Europe. Entries will be selected from driver applications who are competing regularly during the 2015 season in the USA and Europe. With a grid limit of 38 cars, competition for a spot is likely to be very high. Study: Circuit of the America's annual economic benefit to Austin area is close to $900 million AUSTIN, TX (October 28, 2014) – Circuit of The Americas (COTA) generated $897 million in economic impact to the Austin area in 2014, according to a study prepared by New York-based Greyhill Advisors. The analysis represents all COTA events, activities and annual operation for FY 2014, defined as October 1, 2013, to September 30, 2014. The time period captures one full cycle of COTA’s major annual events, including the 2013 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, 2014 MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas and ESPN’s 2014 X Games, as well as track rentals, and concert and events at Austin360 Amphitheater. The full report, available here, was commissioned by Circuit of The Americas. “COTA has turned out to be much more than just a racetrack,” said Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell. “It’s a job creator, a revenue generator, and a destination for quality, year-round entertainment. These benefits to taxpayers result from racetrack construction that was solely funded by private investment. I commend COTA for its positive impact on our community and its contribution to Austin’s emergence as an international city.” According to the report, there were 1.1 million attendees across all COTA events in FY 2014, leading to $731 million in economic impact. An additional $166 million is attributed directly to COTA operations. Over the course of the year, COTA hosted six motorsports and other major sporting events, 18 concerts and 110 track rentals and other events. - Formula 1 generated $507 million in economic impact for the Austin metropolitan area - All other major sporting events, including ESPN’s X Games, generated $161 million in economic impact - Concerts and events at Austin360 Amphitheater generated $49 million in economic impact - Track rentals and other miscellaneous events generated an additional $14 million in economic impact COTA’s annual activities and operations combined to support 9,100 jobs in the Austin metro region representing $306 million in annual payroll for Austin-area workers. Direct visitor spending injected into Austin area business establishments such as restaurants, bars, hotels and retailers totaled $423 million. “COTA is a thoughtfully designed facility that has helped Austin successfully compete for and host events that put our city in the global spotlight,” said Bob Lander, Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO. “We attract over 21 million visitors annually – three times as many as only a decade ago. Tourism has a substantial impact on the Austin economy providing nearly 54,000 jobs and $6.2 billion in direct traveler spending. World-class facilities like COTA greatly enhance our ability to attract new international audiences and markets that widen our spectrum of business.” Since it was announced in 2010, COTA’s cumulative economic impact on the Austin metro area has been $2.8 billion, with an average annual impact on the Austin area of nearly $700 million per year, according to the report. Included in the cumulative impact was construction of COTA’s 1,500-acre campus, which supported more than 7,100 jobs representing $350 million in annual wages. Circuit of The Americas to be official training partner for F1 affiliate driver Simona De Silvestro Austin, TEXAS (July 2, 2014) – Circuit of the Americas (COTA), host of the upcoming 2014 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX, has announced that it will be the official training partner for driver Simona De Silvestro. After recently becoming the first female racing driver in history to test a Formula 1 car on Ferrari's legendary Fiorano Circuit in northern Italy, Simona will continue her training at COTA in early August. Circuit of The Americas™ seeking volunteer race marshals for Lone Star Le Mans AUSTIN, Texas (May 16, 2014) – Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is seeking volunteer race marshals for Lone Star Le Mans, Sept. 16-20. This exciting weekend mixes the best of international endurance racing, like the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France, with the sights, sounds and flavors as big as Texas. Lone Star Le Mans will also mark the debut of night racing at Austin’s award-winning grand prix circuit. Interested parties should complete the Circuit of The Americas’ Preliminary Volunteer Application located at http://circuitoftheamericas.com/volunteer/marshals. Applications will be reviewed when received and applicants will be notified as soon as possible. Circuit of The Americas™ welcomes 118,918 guests for spectacular MotoGP™ weekend AUSTIN, Texas (April 13, 2014) – Circuit of The Americas (COTA) welcomed 118,918 members, guests and participants for three days of spectacular racing and entertainment during the 2014 Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas MotoGP event, April 11-13. While rain clouds threatened most of race day, April 13, weather conditions were overshadowed by scintillating on-track action in the MotoGP, Moto2™ and Moto3™ divisions and the engaging fan activities and live entertainment scheduled throughout the weekend. The outcome of an exciting Moto3 contest came down to the final lap, with current series leader Jack Miller (AUS) riding his No. 8 bike to victory for the Red Bull KTM Ajo Team. “We want to congratulate the world-class riders and teams who once again put on a fantastic show,” COTA President and Chief Executive Officer Jason Dial said. “We also want to thank our members and guests from around the world who again came to Austin to experience the thrill of MotoGP racing. The weekend line-up featured stunt riders, skydivers, aerial displays, motorcycle jumping, rider autograph and Q&A sessions, a post-race concert featuring Austin “Musician of the Year” Bob Schneider, and a massive fan track “invasion” following the MotoGP contest. Additionally, fans had the chance to spend time in the MotoGP Paddock and ride their own motorcycles around the track. The famous Ducati Island fan zone made its only U.S. stop in COTA’s Grand Plaza, while motorcycle manufacturers Honda and Yamaha staged elaborate product and merchandise displays, allowing race fans to totally immerse themselves in the two-wheeled universe. MotoGP racing will return to Circuit of The Americas next year. Race dates and event information for the 2015 MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 races will be released later this year. Circuit of The Americas™ seeking volunteer marshals for 2014 Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas MotoGP event AUSTIN, Texas (Dec. 12, 2013) – Circuit of The Americas will host the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas event April 11-13, 2014, and the world-class sports and entertainment venue in Central Texas is seeking volunteer race marshals for the three-day program.
