  1. HiTech, Those were the days i thought of first. Back then if someone was having problems just about the entire class was over trying to help. we were racers but also friends and we all worked together. The rain out day we all went to the go cart track in north beach showed just how much we all enjoyed things as a group. Mike, I agree if people would work together instead of treating each other as enemies, the fun would be back for all.
  2. You bring up some interesting points, Trying to remember back when I started and don't remember getting much in the way of instructions. I answer questions about the different flags when asked. I have not put the effort into finding new drivers to explain things to. Running mini stocks all those years ago, the class was close and all the drivers made it a point to work with the new guys. Some tracks made you run a rookie stipe or marking on the back of the car so everyone new to watch. I will try to think of some things that may help and welcome any input on what I can do from my position.
  3. Way to go Kris. The kids are not the only ones that will enjoy these times and memories.
  4. Contact Owen Pittman. I believe he can run pull offs from other teams as the track does not have many at this time.
  5. I talked with him after he pulled into the pits, They told him they thought the ankle was broken. Looked like the chassis was done.
  6. That was the Trailer it came in on. He was using a crutch after and going to get his ankle x-rayed when he got home.
  7. Alan Alexander won Bootlegger Class, Mike Knotts won Legacy. Legends put on a show for having only 2 cars. Modifieds was Max Callie's car not sure who was driving.

  9. I enjoy running my home built junk nowadays. Anyone I pass is enjoyable knowing I have lees in my whole operation than they have in their chassis. It has made me learn how to work on the set up on my own. But that adds to the fun for me. Hitech to tell you about some of the junk I ran on asphalt back then.
  10. We took our cars to the Boyscouts Pine Wood Derby and other meetings we could find to let everyone see the cars. We had some R/C cars that were rapped just like the big cars to help garner interest as well.
  11. I grew up racing with parts I could find in the Junk yard. I was racing a car that had less money in the entire car including the trailer than the money guys had in just the Engine. I miss those days. Now you are lucky if you can find anything in the junk yard that fits the car you are running. Then if money is not enough of a problem, neighbor hood improvement comes by to tell you everything has to go because its an eye sore.
  12. Catch 22 - Rules say none, 1 bolt does not give a performance advantage advantage. Enforce the rules and catch hell, don't enforce the rules and everyone complains and when they get caught with something they will go back to were something was ignored before and expect the same. Crew chief reportedly admitted to installing it because they were one bolt short during build and forgot to change it later. I will never have to go through this as what little driving talent I may have had has went.
