  1. Been a while since I posted here. I am looking for pictures of races at Green Valley Raceway near Fort Worth. I am particularly interested in races sanctioned by the Green Valley Racing Association. Any pictures, or references to sources would be appreciated. Thanks!
  2. When I was an active Nascar fan, I attended a lot of races and collected a lot of memorabilia. I retired a couple of years ago, and have been downsizing my collection. Went through a bunch of ballcaps I had collected along the way, and found duplicate Tony Stewart 2002 Cup Champion commemoratives. One of them is now on its way to Wisconsin.
  3. I'll defer to Neil Upchurch's history lesson. I honestly can't remember when the name change from "International" to "World" occurred. "There were a couple of noticible (sic) errors contained in Matt McLaughlin’s otherwise well written article. He wrote, “Texas World Speedway was also given the highly coveted season finale date for 1969.” The initial name of the 2 mile superspeedway in College Station was Texas International Speedway in order to match other ARI owned properties Michigan International Speedway and Riverside International Speedway. The trademark name of Texas World Speedway happened several years after the track had started operations as Texas International Speedway. The name change was suggested by the original NASCAR President, the late Bill France Sr." I do know, as a freshman at Texas A&M in 1969 when the speedway was being built, I had direct contact with track management through my membership in the Texas A&M Sports Car Club. Through that connection, I was put in contact with Bill Broderick with Union 76 and manned the gas pumps for every professional race held there up until I left A&M in 1974.
  4. Watched TIS/TWS yesterday. Raced there on the road course probably half dozen times. Brought tears to my eyes when I watched that episode. What a shame and waste of resources. RIP TIS!
  5. Not sure the year, might be around 1971 or 1972. SCCA at TIS
  6. Yes, I am the camera man. Went over there as often as the SCCA was there until I went to A&M. And once I was at A&M, went to all the races at TIS. Got some movies from there as well.
  7. Sorry I stole your old screen name. I am Oldtimer on a couple of other message boards, and it was available here.
  8. 1969 Sunburn https://flic.kr/s/aHsmUTmBaU
  9. Thanks, I'll try to post up more on a daily basis.
  10. As a high school student living in McKinney, Texas, I became aware of the sports car racing at Green Valley and became an avid fan. When I grew older, I eventually purchased my first race car (a 1969 A-Sedan Camaro - pictured in my avatar), and then went on to be owner or partner on three other racers, two of which actually competed in the Southwest Division. I never had a chance to race at Green Valley, but thought I would share some of my home movies here. 1968 Polar Prix
  11. I'm going to go ahead and post my other albums as separate threads in this forum.
  12. This is my first post to this Board. I found it via a Google search for pictures from the GVRA events. I received a Kodak Super8 movie camera for Christmas in 1966. I lived in McKinney at the time, and found out about the sports car races at Green Valley Raceway. I have numerous movies that I have had copied into digital format. I have shared some of them with the folks at the City of North Richland Hills for their proposed GREEN VALLEY RACEWAY HISTORIC PLAZA PROJECT. I've attached a sample of my movies here. Please forgive the foolish teenagers in the first minute or so of the first film. These are from the 1967 Polar Prix. I also have some from both Polar and Sunburn events for 68, 69, and 70.
