Prayers for a Local Houston area Racer's Family
scotty9 replied to metroracer's topic in Prayer Warriors Room
Thank y'all so much for the prayers. He is home now and doing a little better. We have a long ways to go . If anything will work, it's prayer. Thank you -
Sounds like it was a very successful weekend for all at hmp. Good job. Looks like the success will carry over to the 2020 season. Good turn out for the super stock.

From looking at the final race day schedule, the dwarf cars was given the offer to race. As I've said in past post . I will continue to support HMP and attend races as a fan, when not racing on dirt. Good luck to all and keep up the hard work.

I have the upmost respect for Mr Bell for making the long haul knowing he has a no chance of running up front in the super stocks, It's not that he is not experienced or talented enough it's the car and the rules which it is built by. From my view it only makes sense to have a class in which he and others that have cars that are built with similar rules to COMPETE in . We want to compete, not be a filler car. It makes people feel good knowing the hard work paid off with a good finish.

Not to often I hear Odessa / Midland. Born and raised in Colorado city. My father ( Ronnie Barber) raced with and against the Hillin family on the circle tracks. He also drag raced on asphalt and water. He has many stories from his era of racing and running from the law.(oops).

Yes sir, would like to hear something on which class will be given the opportunity to race . Friday is the day I decide which class I'm going to build on for next season. As for running two different types of cars with totally different rules usually doesn't work out to good. The faster cars start complaining that the slower cars are in the way ( understandable) and usually cause caution's. I enjoy racing against equal or somewhat equal cars, not falling 1 - 1.5 second behind each lap. I have nothing against the super stock class, enjoy watching them. Would like to see and race a stock style class.

I 2nd that metroracer. During intermission we had a lot of fans saying they enjoyed watching the pro stock cars . They liked the looks of regular street cars. Monte Carlo, Camaro and Nova's . Fans can relate to them.

Rocket 55 , i truly appreciate the offer, Thank you. As much as I would like to turn some laps , I would feel more comfortable doing it in my equipment , just in case something happens. Just trying to figure out which way to go for next season. Waterfowl hunting tends to take up a lot of time during the winter months.dosent leave much time for anything else.

Yeah sir , you can say we've tried. What ever the outcome maybe I will continue to support all local hometown short track racing( asphalt or dirt). Just gotta make my decision now. Hunting season is approaching and I have a son that very invested in duck hunting and I support him 💯 percent. But dang I wanna race asphalt .

Well. There's a couple of pro / streetstock cars up for sale that is very capable of running in the November race. I'm just not giving up on this class , these cars need a class and a track to race at. Can't speak for any other person , I'm about to make my final decision which way I go. Would definitely be happy to run asphalt again , but I'm not going to spend a lot of money and still get my a$$ spanked by the (super stocks) and run at the rear of the pack. I know it's about having fun, be honest who enjoys running last.

Thank you Bobby . Wow didn't realize it's been 2 yrs. They have definitely made progress since then. Would like to see the times factory stocks could run now.

Trying to remember the lap times for the factory stocks that visited hmp in the past . Since then I know they have become faster . The average time for pro stocks a few seasons ago was 16 - 16.5 a lap( not all , but most) Just trying to see if there would be a possible way of combining these two classes to make one class without changing the pro stocks ( to much) that are sitting and waiting . A mid 16 sec per lap class, I think is very affordable and competitive.

As much as I would like to see the pro/streetstock cars racing , it just doesn't look to promising. If they allowed Novas to run with the factory stock class, my car would pass ( all parts in stock location). But, all I own are 602 crates, which are not allowed. Then again , no need to start changing rules to accommodate one or two cars.

The last full season that we ran the pro stock class we started off the season with a new set of tires. After that we ran nothing but 8" pulloffs from a modified team . We wasn't the fastest , but for two races, the times didn't fall off much at all. $80 a set. Used about 5-6 gallons of fuel a night. Ran mostly stock parts , nothing fancy. And had a good season. And a whole lot cheaper than a current factory stock. Still pulling for the pro/streetstock class. I know it's not a crossover class, but there are a few setting around waiting for the word.

Has anyone heard of a time or date when they might announce the class chosen . Just don't want to spend money where it's not needed . convert my dirt streetstock to asphalt or keep on playing dirty.

I believe it would fit in fine with the pro/street stocks. Old grocery getter 4 door nova.

No matter which class they decide to run , I will continue to support hmp, as a fan in the stands or a racer on the track. Glad to see the efforts made to make asphalt racing in Texas successful again. Thanks to all working hard to make this happen.

I my self has never owned or raced a super stock. I have a older pro stock that I have been running on dirt in the streetstock class. The street stock class was the only class I could run due to my car being a Nova with a crate engine. The old pro stock rules would allow me to run at hmp. The current superstock cars are out of my budget and the factory stock class does not allow Nova's or crate engines. Funny people mention cost. A front running factory stock chassis is selling for more than my entire car complete and with all the extra parts I have. Tire , I always ran 8" pulloffs from modified .So yeah, bring back the old pro stock class so I can run asphalt again.

Factory stock, factory stock. Can't we give the the pro stock/ street stock a little attention. I know there are some fast Camaros that are just setting around waiting to race and some local cars also .
