  1. So, after four years of " impeach, impeach, resist, resist, if you see one of them out on the street or in restaurant, get in their face and tell they are not welcome here" we are now to play kissy kissy and all join hands and support the big guy who is going to cure all our problems that he spent forty seven years helping to create. Nope, count me out, they taught me how we are supposed to act.
  2. Yep, story of the year just dropped like a lead balloon. NASCAR, Bubba, and the national media could have ridden this pony for the rest of the year if not for that dang FBI. We are dealing with some real rocket scientist here. What a disgraceful way to gain your fifteen minutes of fame.
  3. If the Wallace story is on the up & up , I can't imagine anyone agreeing with that kind of of ignorance, but lets let this deal play out before we convict someone without a trial. Remember Jessie Smollett ? There have to be cameras everywhere in the garage area. I agree that if found, witch ever side they are on, should be banned for life. But if believe this is only about a flag, you may have your head .,well you know. Maybe we need to ban all Mexican , British & all the other flags I see flying all around the country. I'm thinking they lost a couple of tussles to us. We'll see if this story meets the smell test.
  4. NASCAR fell to their knees like they had been shot. When a couple more drivers decide the American flag and National Anthem are racist they will be next to go. If you ever see ever see me on my knees during the Anthem, somebody call 911.
  5. Pretty much history in our part of the country They were always my favorite ,with their huge wings and monster off set , tilted motors. Impressive just sitting still in the parking lot. Long after Houston, they ran in the Copper classic at PIR. Up until a couple of years ago they raced at Colorado National Speedway at Dacono. Last winner I saw there was Ricky Ott, from, I think, the Porter TX. area. I see two associations listed on google, Midwest Supermodified Series and Southwest Supermodified Association [SMRA] At least you can view some good photos on either site.
  6. Questions regarding the Falcon bodied car; Was it tube framed ? What were the modified rules at Meyer regarding bodies and frames at that time? I seem to remember at a number of tracks a modified car had to have a recognizable American body and no tube frames, otherwise it was a super. BUT I will admit to reaching the stage of remembering, seeing, hearing things no one else does.
  7. Hello to you Danny, good to hear from you. I remember you and your dad. We were the lucky ones to live during the wonder years of racing, well maybe lucky to live through them. Moody/Clary,Myers, HOT, Beaumont, Cleveland, Austin, S/A, man those were the days. The driver of the #3 pictured was actually my brother Buddy, Red was in the #12 at the time. Am in the Denver Area at present and they will run the 800 hp. offset supermods on pavement sat, should be quite a show!
  8. I really wish I knew, It would make a great rebuild project. The last I heard of it Nolan Wren owned it, but that was thirty some years ago.
  9. RETrott: Yes it was quite a ways out of # 2 turn, a lapped car smacked the fence and I got up on the top of Jackie Burke # 99. I was officially given credit for 11 rolls, but I had to take their word for it as I only remember the first.
  10. Moody/Clary Speedway was a state of the art 3/8 mile track opened in 1968 just outside of Navasota on Hwy. 105. It was big, wide and super fast. It was owned by J. D. Moody and Kenneth Clary, with Kenneth acting as manager/promoter. Joe D'agastino was the longtime flagman. It was a well run, first class facility at the time. In addition to weekly mod/supermod and stock car racing Moody/Clary hosted a number of special events, including a USAC midget car race and even concerts by Jerry Lee Lewis and Conway Twitty. It was a sad day for Texas racing when it closed. The sharp little Don Edmonds supermod below was destroyed in Sept. 1969 during the chase for the 69 M/C championship with Billy Griswold and James Starky. It was rebuilt and I continued to drive it until 1971. I never overcame the resulting outcome of that head shot [ vision problems ] and walked away in mid season 1971 for good. The car was later sold to Nolan Wren and if I remember correctly he later took a nasty ride in it also. Hope some of you drivers who were there later will pick this up where I left off.
